Crockpot Beef Stew Recipe : So Very Blessed - This Crockpot Beef Stew is the ultimate comfort food. It's quick and easy to throw together because the slow cooker does all the work!
Growing up, beef stew was not my favorite. I’ve tried it before using other recipes and something was always just…off. Whether the carrots were mushy, the potatoes were grainy, or the seasonings weren’t right, there was always something left to be desired. They were very unfulfilling experiences. When food can be so good, why waste your appetite on not-so-great things?

So, I avoided stew for years. Until a few weeks ago when a friend subtly hinted, “Did you know that beef stew is one of my favorite foods? You know, you could make it sometime and that would be okay…”

Hint taken. And so, I went back to the drawing board. I picked out the ingredients and techniques I liked the best and put them all together and created our very own beef stew.

And let me tell you, I have fallen in love with it! I live in Arizona, so the temperatures are still quite high. Now every time I feel even the slightest degree drop, I get the urge to make this stew again!

This is the absolute perfect meal for a cool day! The smell of it cooking in the crockpot all day is just divine and it is comfort food to the max! It is warm, chunky, flavorful, and SO filling!  Nothing grainy, mushy, or under-seasoned – just a bowl of steaming hot broth, tender beef, and a lovely medley of onion, carrot, and potato.

  • Donna says:
Thanks for this recipe. I've not been a fan of beef stew but this recipe has changed that. My husband loved it and is asking for left overs today. I served it with southern cornbread.

Thanks, Clyde! I use McCormick's mix, too!
  • Becky (So Very Blessed) says:
Yup, Clyde is right on! It's with the spice mixes and gravy packets. It's just a basic dry seasoning packet!
  • Becky (So Very Blessed) says:
That is so nice of you! I'm so glad that you had the same reaction that I did to the stew!
  • Clyde Burton says:
Beef stew mix, it's in a package like taco seasoning. you can find it at Walmart with the spices. I use McCormick beef stew mix.

Finally!!! A recipe for beef stew I absolutely love. And it was sooo easy. Delicious!!!! Thank you, would highly recommend this even if not much of a stew beef fan like myself. I now am!!!!
  • Becky (So Very Blessed) says:
You definitely can brown the meat before you put it in the crockpot to add some extra flavor, but you don't need to! I never do, because I'm usually pulling out the crockpot for a quick to assemble one-dish meal.
  • Becky (So Very Blessed) says:
The flour is just to thicken it up a bit! Feel free to leave it out, but you may have a thinner consistency. :-)
  • Anonymous says:
What exactly is the flour for?? I'm skeptical about using it..
  • Where Futures Begin says:
Do you not have to brown the meat before putting it in the crockpot?

I was wondering I had the nutrition facts for this recipe? It was very good!!
  • Becky (So Very Blessed) says:
You're welcome! I hope this stew wins you over and satisfies your husband's craving!
  • Becky (So Very Blessed) says: could sure try! I believe the stew mix has some kind of thickener (like cornstarch) in it, but the flavors should be great!

I have not been a fan of Beef Stew either but my husband asked me to make him some for dinner. Your recipe sounds easy and good so I am looking forward to trying it. Thanks for sharing.

So glad you found the recipe! I hope you liked it, Tiffany!
  • Becky (So Very Blessed) says:
You could certainly just use regular salt! Seasoning salt actually has some other spices (like garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, etc) in it, but it won't be a very noticeable difference!

I just found this on pinterest and know what we are having for dinner tomorrow!! One question, the seasoning salt. Is that just regular salt? Thanks!
  • Tiffany Wilson says:
I found this on pinterest and am so glad I did. It sounds so good.
I am with you on never really liking beef stew. I always wanted too
But have no luck finding a good recipe. All of my attempts have
lacked something. So I was excited when I stumbled on this.
I just put it in the crock pot. And can't for dinner tonight. Thanks!

Do it! It was super easy and sooooo good. Like I said, I really disliked stew until this one and now I crave it! And I'm a fan of anything I can cook in my crockpot. :-)
  • Savannah says:
I gotta say, this looks much tastier and EASIER than the beef stew I made a few weeks ago. I think I'm going to have to give this a shot next time we're feeling stew-ish.
