Maple French Toast Recipe

Sometimes, I just get in the mood for a fancy breakfast. I suppose there are different levels of “fancy” for different people, but anything more intensive than cereal or yogurt counts as a fancy breakfast to me.

And, you know, adding maple flavoring to just about anything makes it pretty special, so I did just that.

I had a loaf of French bread leftover from the French bread pizza I made the other night and all of the other ingredients were in the house as well, which also made this a fast and easy breakfast (but still fancy).

I tried it both with and without syrup and both ways are entirely delicious.

Yields 8

Maple French Toast
Save Recipe


  • 8 slices of French bread
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 Tbs sugar
  • 1/2 tsp maple flavoring (I use Mapleine! Love the stuff!)


  1. Preheat griddle to 325 degrees.
  2. Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, and maple flavoring with a fork.
  3. Dip one piece of French bread into the egg mixture at a time, letting each side soak for a few seconds.
  4. Grease griddle, if it is not non-stick.
  5. Place dipped French bread onto heated griddle.
  6. Cook for 3-5 minutes per side, or until browned.

  1. Yummm! I love French Toast! One time I made Zach French Toast out of Great Harvest Cinnamon Swirl Bread and it was to dye for!!! We only got through a couple pieces, it was dense. Great photos, you're making me hungry!!
  2. I have a new found love for french toast, so your recipe pulled me in! I don't make french toast very often, but I might have to start... I recently tried pumpkin french toast, I may have to try and figure that one out!
  3. I hadn't had french toast in a long time, but I recently rediscovered my love for it, too! And my love of maple runs deep, so that was a match made in heaven!

    I haven't been a big fan of pumpkin, but pumpkin french toast actually sounds good! I may need to try that one myself!
