Halloween Bark Recipe

I put up our Halloween decorations yesterday. It sounds intensive when I leave it generalized, when really I should specify that our Halloween decorations include candy corn that I put into glass candle holders and a few pumpkin/ghost/witch snow globes that we bought from the dollar store.

I don’t really do a lot for Halloween. Costumes? Cute. Candy? Love. But I like to save my decorating power for Christmas, which I’m planning to crazy on this year.

But back to that Halloween candy? Oh yeah, that I do. I’ve been scouring the stores for Caramel Apple Milky Ways, but in the mean time, I threw together some of my favorite flavors in this super simple, throw-together bark.

First, cover a pan with foil. It just makes it a million times easier to release the hardened chocolate at the end.

Grab some Halloween Oreos. You could use regular Oreos if you were freaked out by the orange filling, but I love it!

Crush ’em up a little bit and sprinkle the pieces over the foil.

Now melt some candy coating. I prefer to melt it on the stove top. I really have no reason for this except that I feel more old fashioned using the stove.

Quirky?

Yes.

Pour the coating over the pan. It won’t spread to cover the pan immediately, but if you gently shake the pan and tap it on the counter, it will slowly fill in the space.

I used mallow bites, salted peanuts, peanut butter chips, and Reese’s Pieces. Sprinkle them all on the coating and gently press it in so it will stay stuck once it hardens.

Stick the pan in the fridge until the coating hardens, then break the bark into pieces.

It has the salty/sweet thing going on with the peanuts in there and the chocolate/peanut butter combo is one of my favorites.
