It’s getting colder and colder here in Colorado, so most of my favorite things right now are cozy and warm.
Like my pink puffy vest. I bought this at Old Navy ages ago, but I absolutely LOVE it. It’s pink, it’s warm, and that’s just about all I need!
I’ve been housesitting for some friends this week and a fire + Hallmark Christmas movies + a quiet house has been my happy introvert holiday wonderland.
A rare behind the scenes look at my recording studio…to take full advantage of that quiet house, I’ve been at work recording all kinds of videos for the new course Sara and I are about to release. I am so over-the-moon excited about this one because it’s about a topic I am super passionate about!
Years ago, I heard somebody talking about vodka gummy bears and, for some reason, they sounded AMAZING to me. So, I’ve been meaning to try them ever since, but never had gotten around to it…until now. And I am here to report that they were not at all amazing. Nope. Uh-uh. Never again.
Adam and I disagree on when Christmas celebrations should begin. I tend to start thinking Christmas around Halloween, but he is a stickler for not doing Christmas until after Thanksgiving. Buuut, he loves me, so we had our first Elf viewing of the season the other night!
The Denver Botanic Gardens just happened to have a free day this weekend, so we headed over there and wandered around. The gardens were beautiful, but I was so sad that they had their Christmas lights up, but they didn’t turn them on! They made up for it a little bit by having a winter market setup with lots of local cute handmade goods.
We spent Sunday afternoon by a river outside of Golden. He gold panned, I read Beth Moore’s book, “Praying God’s Word” (really good so far!), and Boots explored.
Did I mention it was cold outside?!
The very best way to warm up afterward was next to the fireplace at a coffee shop with white hot chocolate with a shot of raspberry. I had a friend in college who used to bring me these, but I probably hadn’t had one in about a decade. They were still delicious, but a whole lot sweeter than I remember!
Oh, and I was so excited to see this chalkboard there. It was like they knew it was the 30 Days of Gratitude! “Getting a slushy” was my favorite note up there.
If you have never had a breakfast salad before, you should definitely try it! I love how the egg yolk is practically a salad dressing (this particular salad came with a citrus vinaigrette, as well). It was the perfect pre-church breakfast.
And Honeycrisp season makes me so happy! They are the best apples of all the apples. Side note – am I the only one that craves apples when I’m thirsty? I usually end up grabbing an apple and a glass of water because the two always go hand-in-hand for me.
We took Boots walking along Cherry Creek Trail in Denver this weekend and he reminded me that he is NOT a big city dog. The poor guy was terrified to walk under bridges because the noise of the traffic was so scary to him. He calmed down after a bit and enjoyed the river, which was absolutely lovely. Walking along rivers is one of my favorite things ever. The sound of the water is so relaxing.
We went on a search for bread pudding that night (Yelp is my best friend) and found it at this cute little Italian place. I love that Adam shares food! We shared an entree, then dove into this white chocolate strawberry bread pudding.
I am not loving the colder weather for our runs, but the low temperatures don’t seem to bother Boots a bit. Maybe if I had a fur coat…
