Marriage is a beautiful vow that two people get to make. When we get married it is not only a commitment to our spouse, but a commitment made in God’s presence that we will go through life, whether rain or sunshine, laughter, tears, sickness, or health, till death, do us part.
Every year that you get to celebrate, and honor that commitment is a blessing. For those fortunate couples who have been blessed with 50 years of their life together, and who have seen the highest heights and the lowest lows, their 50th wedding anniversary can feel especially rewarding and special.
Those 50 years represent so many memories, endless stories, changes, growth, life stages, and so much more. It is a true reminder of Jesus’ words in Mark 10:9, “Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
If you’re the blessed couple who is celebrating their 50th anniversary, one of the greatest gifts that you can give one another, and your marriage is your prayers for God’s blessing on the rest of your lives and marriage.

Prayers for A 50th Wedding Anniversary

1. Prayer Of Thanks
Father, I cannot begin to thank You for every year that You have carried us through as a couple. I think of the times that we have gotten to spend together throughout the years, and it’s hard to believe that it has already been 50 years. Thank You so much for being with us through each of those years.
Thank You for how You have sustained us, whether in times of need or in times when we had all we needed and some more. We know that it is not out of our own strength and goodness that we’ve made it this far, but only through Your grace.
We ask that You would continue to be at the center of our marriage, and that we would be used mightily in Your kingdom as an example of love and commitment.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
2. Prayer With Grateful Hearts
Lord, today we give You praise for such a wonderful gift that we have been given the honor to know and experience for the last 50 years. We have been through thick and thin together.
We have seen dark days, and we have laughed until we couldn’t anymore. I realize how every single moment, whether it seemed good or bad at the time, worked together to create this beautiful life that we get to look back on.
Thank You for never leaving our side through all of the seasons, and for pouring out Your grace afresh on us each day. As we celebrate our 50th year, I ask that You would grant us grateful hearts, and help us fix our eyes on the things that truly matter.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
3. Thankful for Differences
Father, I just want to take a moment to thank You for not only the gift of love but the gift of friendship that I have been blessed with these last 50 years. In today’s world, commitment is hard to find, and to have a companion who has seen every part of me, and has endured all the sides of life alongside me is a true gift that I am so grateful to have known.
I know that neither of us would have grown in the ways we have if it weren’t for the other’s input, encouragement, and support. Today our differences feel more beautiful than ever, and the things we have in common feel invaluable.
To be able to look at someone who you have seen through the same eyes for some many years, and see them change before you is a blessing that very few things can compare to. All I can ask is that Your kindness would continue to extend to us, and that You would grow our love even deeper than it is today.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
4. Life Is Precious
God, I can’t believe it’s been 50 years since we said I do, and we have done so ever since. There are so many things that we have learned through the years together. I don’t know where I would be today, or who I would be if we didn’t get to embark on this journey called marriage for the last 50 years.
On the one hand, it is as if we have been married forever, and it’s hard to imagine a time when we weren’t us, yet on the other hand it feels as though I blinked and it all fast-forwarded 50 years into the future.
On this 50th, we are reminded of how precious life is and how invaluable time is. I am extremely grateful that my time has been spent alongside my spouse, who has been my greatest support and friend.
I thank You for bringing us together, and enriching both our lives through our marriage. May we celebrate many more years.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
5. That The Marriage Would Show Your Grace
Lord, thank You so much for my spouse. Sometimes I don’t know how it has been 50 years already, but then I am reminded of Your hand through every season of our lives. Thank You for guiding us, and providing for us through each year.
Thank You for blessing us with a beautiful family who will always be a result of our love for one another. My prayer is that You would shine the light of Your kindness and grace on our lives for the rest of our lives.
Please keep us in good health, and fill us with Your joy. May every day remain an opportunity for us to serve one another, and to lay our lives down for each other. May our faithfulness to one another be a testimony to others of how You have carried us even when we were less than perfect.
We know it is only by Your grace that we both are here today, and that we are able to celebrate 50 years together. May we experience many more years of Your love and grace.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
6. God Is The Glue That Held Us Together
Heavenly Father, it is hard to express all the love and gratitude that I have accumulated over the last 50 years. It feels like just yesterday that we got married, yet it has been a lifetime too. Looking back at our lives it is so clear that You have held us together through it all.
You were our glue when we were falling apart, and You were the light that shone on our greatest days together. We can honestly say that You work all things together for those who love you and who are called according to Your purposes.
Thank You so much for allowing our paths to cross, and blessing us with one another. Thank You for the beautiful life that we get to look back on, and that we get to talk about together.
I ask that You continue to bless our marriage and protect it from the evil one. Help us continue to find ways to love, serve, support, and understand one another.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
7. Grow Our Appreciation
Lord, thank You for my wonderful husband who I have done life with for the last 50th years. I am so grateful that I have been staring into those same eyes for more than half a century.
It’s hard to believe that it has really been so long. Thank You for bringing him into my life all those years ago, and showing me Your love through him. Thank You for every blessing that we have gotten to experience together, and for the life that we got to make.
I look back and my fondest memories are of our time together. Thank You for how You have grown us over the years, and how our differences have come together.
May our appreciation for one another only grow with time, and our commitment be honored before You, always.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
8. From The Husband, For My Wife
Dear God, I can only give You the thanks for bringing my precious wife into my life. She has been such an endless blessing to me, and I am grateful that we have spent 50 years together in marriage.
Thank You for creating marriage as a gift that reflects Your relationship with the church. It really has sanctified us, and cut away all the sharp edges of our character and many sinful patterns.
Thank You for teaching us what true love looks like. Love that is patient, kind, enduring, faithful and forgiving. When you’re young there are so many ideas that you have about love, but time and circumstances show you what real committed love looks like, and I am so grateful that we got to experience that.
May our marriage continue to be a blessing to others, and bring glory to Your name. Please keep us healthy and our relationship strong.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
