4 Prayers for Daughter’s Birthday

1. Prayer for God to Protect Her
It is only natural to want to protect our children for as long as we can. But it’s not always in our control, and as our children grow up many changes occur that require us to loosen our grip in certain areas of their lives. Though we may not have the ability to protect them physically all the time, we can place our trust in God through prayer, and asking Him to keep and protect her, especially when she is out of your reach.
Dear Lord,
Every day is a gift, and today I am especially grateful for the gift of my daughter’s life. Thank You for sparing her, and allowing us to celebrate another year of life with her. It’s hard to imagine life without her, and I am so grateful that I get to be her parent.
As much as I want to keep a close eye on her and protect her from all the pain and disappointment from this life, I know that it is a part of life. My prayer is that You would shield her heart from things that are not beneficial to her, and that will only lead to disappointment.
Please help her to surround herself with people who have her best interest at heart, and who look out for her the way we do. I ask that You would help her to discern, and to walk away from those who tempt her to walk a path that will lead to harm.
Wherever she goes, I ask that You keep Your strong and caring arms around her. Help her to be vigilant when she leaves home, and returns. Please keep her safe from those who may have ill thoughts towards her. May she seek You for protection, and hide behind You as her shield. In Jesus’ name, amen.
2. Prayer for God’s Goodness Over Her Life
We serve a God who is good, and blesses us with many heavenly blessings. Beyond the comforts of this world, the greatest treasure that your daughter can find is in God and His kingdom. You can ask God to bless your daughter with the goodness that can only come from Him.
Heavenly Father,
I have experienced your goodness throughout my life. My precious daughter is one of those good gifts that You have given me, and I am especially grateful for her life today on her birthday.
I know that the world has many attractions, and is tempting for anyone, especially a young person. My hope and prayer for my daughter on her birthday is that she will come to know, and cling to the true gifts of goodness that comes through knowing Christ and Him crucified.
May she know the true joy that comes from knowing Jesus. A joy that is not shaken or movable, but one that is rooted in who Christ is. Help her to see that the happiness that the world offers is only temporary and changes as our circumstances do. But the joy found in Christ is eternal, and doesn’t change because He never changes.
Please bless her with a heart that is filled with contentment. May she know that she is fearfully and wonderfully made, and that You have shaped her intricately, and on purpose. May she live her life not to please others, but to please You alone, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
3. Prayer of Thanksgiving for Daughter
There is no better day than on someone’s birthday to be reminded of the gift that they are to you. Your daughter’s birthday is one of those days that you can give God praise for, because it is the day that He brought her into the world, and changed your life forever.
Father,
You knew all those years ago that my heart needed this precious daughter of mine. I am so grateful that you have spared her another year around the sun, and have kept her safe, and protected in Your loving arms. Today, more than any day, I am reminded just how blessed I am!
Thank You, Lord, for putting her in my trust, and for allowing me the privilege to be her parent. It has not always been an easy road, and there are so many things in parenthood that aren’t black and white. But I am grateful that through Your grace You have carried us through it all.
I’m grateful for the wonderful, and unique person that she is, and for all the things that You have taught me through her. She has made me better in many ways, and my prayer is that she would continue to grow into the incredible lady that You have created her to be.
Above all things, my prayer is that she would know You personally, and love You dearly, knowing that all things are from You, and that there is no greater portion than to have the Lord in your life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
4. Prayer for Her Relationship with God
Though there may be many wonderful gifts your daughter could receive in her life, there is one that is absolutely priceless, and that is the gift of eternal life. Whether your daughter has a relationship with God or not, you can ask God that He would lead her into a real, saving relationship with Himself.
Father,
When You created us, You made each of us with a heart that can only be satisfied by You. Though we may try hard to find things in this life to fill that void, nothing can ever replace Your role in our lives. My prayer is that my daughter would know this, and seek Your face personally.
Thank You for sending Your Son to earth, and for making a way for us. Thank You for loving us, even while we were sinners who turned from You, and rejected You. Please allow the gospel to shine brightly in my daughter’s heart, and bring her to a place of repentance, and commitment to Christ.
I ask that You would bless her with the greatest gift, which is eternal life through Your Son, Jesus Christ. May her faith be her own, and not something that is reliant upon what others have told her, but on what she has read and known for herself in Your word.
May she grow deeply in the knowledge of Christ, and may that knowledge transform her heart and mind. Please keep her from being conformed to the world, and its patterns and ways of thinking. Help her to stand firm in her faith, even in the face of persecution. May she cling to Christ as her lifeline, and cherish Him above all. In Jesus’ name, amen.
