25 Bible Verses For Healing

| |

I am coming up on the six-year mark since my debilitating insomnia began.

As much as I hate the physical and emotional toll of trying to survive (and work and serve and raise two boys) on less than 3 hours of broken sleep most nights, experiencing this has strengthened my faith in ways I never could have imagined.

Of course, I am very familiar with discouragement on this long road. That’s an entire post of its own! I’ve grieved and struggled and cried out in anguish and despair. I’ve been desperate for help and comfort and relief. The pages of my Bible, especially the Psalms, are worn and tear-stained.

If my hope were rooted only in what I can see around me (which is a whole lot of people struggling), I would have given up by now. Ut would be so easy to be swallowed up in discouragement and despair.

But my hope is rooted in God, not what I can see in this world, and His Word is full of promises of restoration, healing, and strength. He sustains us through our hardest days, carries us when we can’t stand on our own strength, and offers us a power beyond ourselves.

My heart now overflows with compassion for people suffering from pain, sickness, and chronic illness in ways it never could have if I hadn’t experienced so many limitations in this broken human body.

Despite my not experiencing healing in this area (yet), I know God can do it.

This season, I have been leaning into the name of God, Jehovah-Rapha, which means “the Lord who heals.”

I’ve been praying more boldly and fervently than ever for healing for those suffering in my life and I invite you to join me.

Whether you’re seeking physical healing for yourself or praying for a loved one, these verses remind us of God’s power, love, and faithfulness.

The verses below are just little snippets from the Bible, but I encourage you to find the verses that resonate with you and dig deeper. Look them up and read the full chapter/story. Dig into the context, and the people involved in the story, and see an even clearer picture of God’s character and heart in each example.

  7. Hi Becky,

The healing verse that resonated with me is #13, not because I feel completely healed all the time. My trauma affected me so much that I felt like I never belonged, no one wanted me around because I felt that way in my own family growing up. I isolated myself because of my shame that consumed me, I did not want to be seen ever! I am 63 now and still have those same feelings at times although not as intense. I read my Bible every day but seem to usually question how the words in there are affecting my life today. I find it hard to believe that I am a child of God and that I wasn’t a mistake. I never had any hopes or dreams bc I never thought I deserved such things so I feel like I missed out on a lot! Please pray that our wonderful God will continue to show me who I am in him and tell me that is the only thing that matters, not what anyone thinks.

    Thank you Becky,

    Have a blessed day

    Lili
