8 Christian Worship Songs And Hymns On Blessings

Use the words of these worship songs and hymns on blessings to draw nearer to God with music, growing your faith, gratitude, and joy.

Music has such a special way of influencing our hearts.

Saying words is one thing, but, singing them can impact you on a whole different level (and both of those are important in different ways at different times!).

The Psalms are full of David’s words singing praises to God in such a powerful, creative, and impactful way (you can read some Bible verses about music here)

People are still using their faith and their creativity to create songs to stir our hearts and faith today.

Songs And Hymns On Blessings

The list of songs and hymns below is specifically on the topic of blessings. This is not an all-inclusive list by any means, but each of these songs have inspired and encouraged me on difficult days.

They have such a gentle way of turning my heart and eyes back to the Lord when the situations around me are trying to hold my gaze.

Whether you’ve heard these songs before or if they are new to you, see which lyrics resonate with you. Add them to your playlist, hum along, or sing along to them at the top of your lungs (I particularly like to do this in the shower).

Use these songs as encouragement on your hard days when you’re struggling to hold onto hope.

Use them as inspiration and motivation to keep on striving to know the Lord more, living into your identity in Christ, and living a blessed life as you pursue God in all that you do.

May God bless you through these songs and allow you to experience His love on deeper levels as you hum and sing about His goodness.

Contemporary Worship Songs On Blessings

1. “The Blessing” by Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes, and Elevation Worship

I have sung this song to my youngest son almost every day since he was born before I lay him down to sleep.

I think there is something so powerful about speaking blessings over our loved ones and this song has made it even easier to be intentional about that in my son’s life.

It’s sure easier for me to memorize Scripture when it’s set to music!

“The Blessing” is taken directly from Numbers 6:24-26 which says, “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”

It also uses Deuteronomy 7:9 which says, “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.”

This song is amazing for petitioning God for His blessings and asking Him to pour them out on you and those around you.

Some lyrics I love from this song:

“The Lord bless you and keep you

Make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you

The Lord turn His face toward you

And give you peace”

“May His favor be upon you

And a thousand generations

And your family and your children

And their children, and their children”

2. “Goodness of God” by Bethel Music and Jenn Johnson

“Goodness of God” is a song that recounts the blessings that God has already provided in your life.

It reminds us how God has always been good and how blessed we are to have an intimate and personal relationship with Him. Even in our search for current blessings, it is always important to have a grateful heart and remember how God has already blessed us in the past.

This strengthens our faith and gives us the endurance to forge into unknown territories.

Some lyrics I love from this song:

“’Cause all my life You have been faithful

And all my life You have been so, so good

With every breath that I am able

Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God”

“I love Your voice

You have led me through the fire

In darkest night You are close like no other

I’ve known You as a Father

I’ve known You as a Friend

And I have lived in the goodness of God”

“Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me

With my life laid down, I surrendered now

I give You everything

3. “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)” by Matt Redman

“10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)” is a song that flips the idea of blessings on its head and reminds us of all the reasons that we have to bless the Lord in return for all of His blessings.

It highlights God’s grace and His amazing character, providing inspiration to sing praises to the Lord for all that He has done in our lives.

Some lyrics I love from this song:

“Bless the Lord oh my soul

Oh my soul

Worship His Holy name

Sing like never before

Oh my soul

I’ll worship Your Holy name”

“You’re rich in love

And You’re slow to anger

Your name is great

And Your heart is kind

For all Your goodness

I will keep on singing

Ten thousand reasons

For my heart to find”

“And on that day

When my strength is failing

The end draws near

And my time has come

Still my soul will

Sing Your praise unending

Ten thousand years

And then forevermore

Hymns On Blessings

1. “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing” by Robert Robinson

This performance is by Shane & Shane and I just love this particular version, including the “Above All Else” section.

“Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing” is a beautiful hymn that highlights how God has taken each of us from the darkness and into the light.

I sang and hummed and rocked and bobbed to this song thousands of times to my first son when he had terrible colic for the first 5 months of his life, praying that, even as an infant, the Lord would be “tuning his heart to sing Thy grace”.

It tells the story of a sinner saved by grace being accepted and adopted into the royal family.

Every step of the way, God has blessed us in His salvation and this song is an amazing reminder of that.

Some lyrics I love from this song:

“Come Thou fount of every blessing

Tune my heart to sing Thy grace

Streams of mercy never ceasing

Call for songs of loudest praise

Teach me some melodious sonnet

Sung by flaming tongues above

Praise the mount, I’m fixed upon it

Mount of Thy redeeming love”

“Oh, to grace how great a debtor

Daily I’m constrained to be

Let Thy goodness like a fetter

Bind my wandering heart to Thee

Prone to wander, Lord I feel it

Prone to leave the God I love

Here’s my heart, oh take and seal it

Seal it for Thy courts above”

2. “Blessed Assurance” by Fanny J. Crosby and Phoebe P. Knapp

“Blessed Assurance” is a hymn that talks about the blessing that we have in Jesus Himself – both in what Jesus has done and in what Jesus will do when He returns.

This hymn is a reminder of that and takes us on a journey through all that Jesus has done for us.

We don’t use many of these words and phrases anymore, but that’s part of what sets this hymn apart for me and draws me deeper into the lyrics and all that they stand for.

Some lyrics I love from this song:

“Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine;

Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!

Heir of salvation, purchase of God,

Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

This is my story, this is my song,

Praising my Savior all the day long.

This is my story, this is my song,

Praising my Savior all the day long.”

“Perfect submission, all is at rest,

I in my Savior am happy and blest;

Watching and waiting, looking above,

Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.”

That line, “lost in His love”, gets me every time. 💜

3. “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” by Thomas O. Chisholm and William M. Runyan

This is performed here by Maranatha! Music and it includes the lyrics on the video, which I love as a visual learner!

“Great Is Thy Faithfulness” is another fantastic hymn about blessings that reminds us of the great faithfulness of God.

As 2 Timothy 2:13 says, “if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.” God will always be faithful to His own character which is faithful to us.

This hymn highlights that and allows us an avenue to praise God for it.

Some lyrics I love from this song:

“Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;

there is no shadow of turning with Thee;

Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;

as Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.”

“Great is Thy faithfulness!

Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see;

all I have needed Thy hand hath provided:

great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!”

“Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,

Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;

strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow:

blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!”

Other Praise & Worship Music On Blessings

1. “Blessings” by Laura Story

“Blessings” by Laura Story is a bit of a different take on blessings as the song encourages us to see the blessings in our everyday lives that may not come in the way that we would expect.

It talks about how maybe our blessings come through the little things that we sometimes ignore and we might be missing them because of our perspective.

Some lyrics I love from this song:

“’Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops?

What if Your healing comes through tears?

What if a thousand sleepless nights

Are what it takes to know You’re near?

And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?”

“We pray for wisdom

Your voice to hear

And we cry in anger when we cannot feel You near

We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love

As if every promise from Your Word is not enough

And all the while, You hear each desperate plea

And long that we’d have faith to believe”

“What if my greatest disappointments

Or the aching of this life

Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy

And what if trials of this life

The rain, the storms, the hardest nights

Are Your mercies in disguise?”

2. “Great Are You Lord” by All Sons & Daughters

“Great Are You Lord” is a beautiful song that talks about how the very breath that sustains us is from God Himself.

Even the smallest, most minute details of our lives can be defined as blessings from God in and of themselves. The song encourages us to remember that and thank God for it.

Some lyrics I love from this song:

“You give life, You are love

You bring light to the darkness

You give hope, You restore every heart that is broken

And great are You, Lord”

“It’s Your breath in our lungs

So we pour out our praise, we pour out our praise

It’s Your breath in our lungs

So we pour out our praise to You only”

“All the earth will shout Your praise

Our hearts will cry, these bones will sing

Great are You, Lord”
