One of the most amazing attributes of God is that He is always faithful, even when we don’t necessarily see it or feel it.
My own hard seasons have been years-long struggles with my 100-pound weight loss journey, an abusive relationship, and a 6-year-long battle with debilitating insomnia.
During those seasons, feelings like hopelessness, desperation, loneliness, discouragement, darkness and so much more threatened to steal all of my hope, joy, and peace.
When we are going through the most difficult times, it is so important to remember that God is still faithful, yet those are the times in which it is hardest to remember.
That’s why I’ve put together 12 Bible verses on God’s faithfulness – for you to read, memorize, and use as reminders during those dark seasons that God is still faithful. Scripture is so good at bringing light into darkness and ground you in the Truth of God’s Word when worries, uncertainty, and hopelessness threaten to drown out your faith.

1. Psalm 36:5 – God’s Love Reaches to the Heavens
“Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.”
– Psalm 36:5
This verse in the Psalms reminds us just how far God’s faithfulness stretches. It stretches farther than you could ever imagine, in every circumstance. Your situation may feel unsteady and uncertain, but God’s character is steady, never changing or shifting.
2. Lamentations 3:22-23 – God’s Compassions Are New Every Morning
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
– Lamentations 3:22-23
I will readily admit feeling “consumed” by my struggles. Sometimes, it feels like they are all I can see, all I can think about, all I can worry about. And yet, the truth is, God is faithful and, because of Him, we are not consumed (even when we feel like it).
We can choose to hold onto hope in a God who continues to offer faithfulness, love, compassion, and strength.
3. Deuteronomy 7:9 – The Lord Your God Is God
“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; He is the faithful God,
keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations
of those who love Him and keep His commandments.”
– Deuteronomy 7:9
In the Bible, God makes many covenants with His people. However, these are not just empty covenants that He doesn’t fulfill.
Every time, God fulfills His side of the covenant and is faithful to it, even when His people are struggling to hold onto their own faith. God will always keep His promises because of His great faithfulness.
So, the question is – what will God’s faithfulness look like here, in the hard season that you are going through right now?
4. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 – God Will Protect You
But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. – 2 Thessalonians 3:3
Feeling vulnerable, weak, and unprotected is pretty common during hard times. It can feel like things are coming at you from every side and you are left to fend for yourself.
“But the Lord is faithful.” He offers us His own strength and protection when ours are lacking and this verse is a reminder to me to continue to ask for it and trust that He will give what He says He will.
5. Psalm 117:2 – It Endures Forever
“For great is His love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.”
– Psalm 117:2
Forever is something that we can’t possibly comprehend. Everything in our lives is limited; we can only think in those terms.
However, the Bible tells us that God’s faithfulness endures forever. There is no end to His faithfulness. It is literally limitless. This means that you can’t overspend it and He cannot run out of it.
When you are tempted to limit your thoughts to only what you can see and feel in that moment, use this verse as a reminder that we serve a limitless God. There is so much more going on than we can see.
6. Exodus 34:6-7 – His Faithfulness Is Steadfast
And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.” – Exodus 34:6-7
God’s faithfulness is steadfast. While our situations often throw us into worry, anxiety, stress, and uncertainty, we serve a steadfast God who is not thrown or surprised by our situations.
7. Psalm 33:4 – The Word of the Lord Is Right and True
“For the Word of the Lord is right and true; He is faithful in all He does.”
– Psalm 33:4
One thing about the nature of God is that He has integrity. He is right and true, faithful in all that He does. He will always follow His righteous nature and will never fly off the handle and act out of character.
This, of course, is in contrast to us, who tend to change on a daily basis. This is what makes the Lord’s faithfulness so beautiful. In all that He does, He is faithful. He is reliable. He is trustworthy.
8. Psalm 89:8 – Who Is Like God?
“Who is like You, Lord God Almighty?
You, Lord, are mighty, and Your faithfulness surrounds You.”
– Psalm 89:8
There is none like our God, the Lord God Almighty. He is strong and powerful, faithful in all that He does. This faithfulness is part of His strength as He stays consistent with who He is, never wavering for a moment.
This means that we can depend on Him and trust Him in all that we do. He will be faithful no matter what and will carry us through every difficulty.
9. 1 Corinthians 1:9
God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. – 1 Corinthians 1:9
In this section of Scripture, Paul is beginning this particular letter with the reminder that God is faithful, before he calls out some big problems in their church in Corinth.
It’s just yet another reminder that God’s faithfulness is present and unchanging, even when our situations are very, very messy. And, in the midst of it, He has called us to remain close to Him, in fellowship with Him. A relationship that calls us to lean in closer to His kindness, compassion, and strength in difficult times, not rely on our own strength.
10. Psalm 86:15 – God Is Compassionate and Gracious
“But You, Lord,
are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger,
abounding in love and faithfulness.”
– Psalm 86:15
This verse in the Psalms is a declaration of God’s character. He is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
God isn’t just faithful; He abounds in faithfulness. He overflows with faithfulness. He has an abundance of it. It’s not just going to run out or fail. He will be forever faithful to us.
11. Psalm 145:13 – God’s Kingdom Is Everlasting
“Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures through all generations.
The Lord is trustworthy in all He promises and faithful in all He does.”
– Psalm 145:13
As we look forward to the future of God fulfilling His plan from the Scriptures, we can always trust that He will be trustworthy and faithful to fulfill it in the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
As this verse says, God is trustworthy in His promises and faithful in everything that He does. He is faithful in everything, not just some things. We can always trust Him with our future, no matter what.
12. Exodus 34:6 – God’s Nature
“And He passed in front of Moses, proclaiming,
“The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness,”
– Exodus 34:6
God Himself told us that He is faithful. Here in Exodus 34, God passes by Moses and declares who He is. In that declaration, He told Moses that He abounds in faithfulness.
Ever since, we have seen His faithfulness time and time again and His Word has proven it to be true. He is worthy of our trust, no matter what we are going through.
