6 Comforting Prayers For Peace

Needing prayers for peace? Pray these when you are stressed, overwhelmed, or worried for more of God’s peace that passes all understanding.

When we are faced with an unknown future, a waiting period, strained relationships, or difficult circumstances, it can be easy to feel stripped of peace. Daily life is filled with challenges that lead us to live uneasy lives, void of peace.

If we are focused on outward circumstances, we are guaranteed to buckle under the weight of life. Jesus gives comfort to those who are in need of peace. In John 14:27, He says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

This is a peace He makes available to all who put their trust in Him. One of the ways we can seek this kind of peace is through taking our burdens to Him in prayer. He desires to give us peace. We simply need to ask for it.

I hope that these prayers for peace will lead you to trust Him in the midst of your storm. He cares for you, and that includes the areas in your life that are missing His peace that passes all understanding.

Peace in Relationship Conflict

Father, I thank You for the people that You have placed in my life. Thank You to the ones who stayed and those who were only meant for a season. You have taught me invaluable lessons in both the ups and downs of relationships. Today, I want to bring my relationships before You.

You have created us as relational beings. From the very beginning, Lord. You showed our need for others. Please help me to not let my negative experiences with people shut me off from those with good intentions. I confess that I have been hurt in relationships and I have hurt others in relationships too. Please forgive me for the hurt I have caused others, and help me to extend that forgiveness to those who have caused me pain.

I pray for peace over the relationships in my life. Please evade the areas where there is strife and let Your peace reign between us. Let any unspoken anger or bitterness be brought to light. Help me to address misunderstandings in my relationships. Where I am in the wrong, grant me the humility to confess my part. Keep me from minimizing my faults and maximizing the faults of others.

Help me move forward from past relationships that aren’t meant to move into the future with me. Please bring reconciliation to the relationships that You have placed in my life for this season. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Peace in the Waiting

Lord, You have never failed me, and You never will. Though my flesh may experience disappointment, Your plans remain the same, and Your word remains my comfort in the waiting.

Your word says that those who wait on You will renew their strength, they will mount up with wings as eagles, they will run and not be weary, they will walk and not grow faint. Please shape me to be someone who waits on You. I confess that waiting can sometimes become weary. It is tough to face the reality of a life that feels as though it is not moving forward. It is disheartening to see how others may be experiencing the answered prayer that I have been waiting on.

You know the areas in my life that feel stuck. There is not a single thought or emotion that you are not aware of. You have seen my doubt. You know my frustration. You are aware of my impatience. And you see my disappointment. Yet, you remain unmoved. Please help me to place my trust in You, the solid rock of my hope and my salvation.

Let my expectations be in You and not things or people. People will fail me, and I will fail them. Opportunists will come and go, but, Lord, You will stay. Please fix my eyes on You in every season. Help me to wait on You. Renew my strength and plant my feet firmly on the Rock, that is Christ. Give me the peace to let go of the things that are not for me and the gratitude for the gifts that You give me. Help me to patiently wait on Your time, not mine. In Your Name, I pray, amen.

Peace with God

Heavenly Father, I am amazed that I get to have a relationship with You. I was once an enemy, and now You call me Your friend. It is something that I often forget. But it is a reminder of the grace and mercy that You have shown me. You have shown me grace by giving me something that I don’t deserve. And You have given me mercy by not giving me what I deserve.

I thank You for the work of Christ that has reconciled my relationship with You, and has given me peace with God. I thank You for His absolute denial of self, as He humbled Himself and took on the form of man.

I thank You for His walk on earth as the only One who could keep the commands that reveal my sin. But I especially thank You for His sacrifice on the cross for sinners. His sacrifice bought my peace. I am thankful for the peace that I get to experience through salvation.

I pray for peace in my daily walk with You. Help me to be in step with the Spirit, so that I can reject the desires of my flesh. Help me to confess the sin in my life that keeps me from following You wholeheartedly. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Peace with Yourself

Lord, You have given me a new way to relate to You, others, the world around me and myself. Through Christ I can not only have peace with You and with those around me. But I can experience true peace with myself. You have created me on purpose. You knew the time and place that would surround my birth. And You knew how and when I would come to faith in You.

The conflict that we experience as humans isn’t always with open people. Many times it happens privately, in the dark corners of our hearts. You know the inner workings of my heart, and the struggles that I face. You see my contempt for myself, and my striving for perfection. You know when I compare myself to others and when I feel less than.

Please help me to extend grace to myself for my shortcomings. Help me to know that strength isn’t found in myself. It is found in You, especially in my weakness. Help me to forgive myself for the mistakes that I have made. Keep me from negative self-talk and give me eyes to see myself according to Your word. Remind me to rest in You, and find my contentment in who I am in You, not my looks, not my accomplishments, and not my failures or mistakes.

Grant me peace with who You have created me to be. Keep me from comparing myself to others, and help me to look to Christ as my guide. Shape me into His likeness, not the image that the world promotes. It’s in Your Name, I pray, amen.

Peace with your Circumstances

Father God, I thank You for being with me through every circumstance. I admit it can be tempting to believe that You have turned Your face away in tough times. When it seems like the storm simply isn’t coming to an end, it is not because You have abandoned me at sea. I realize that many times You are teaching me a lesson in swimming or reminding me to trust in my anchor.

Circumstances have a way of revealing where our trust lies. Please help me to see where I have wrongfully placed my trust. Forgive me for placing my faith in the improvement of my circumstances instead of the faithfulness of God. Help me to see You at work in the midst of my troubles. Show me what I need to learn during this time and how. You want to change me.

Your word says that the trials that I face are not in vain. In fact, it says to consider it joy when I face different trials, because the testing of my faith produces perseverance. Please help me persevere as I face my circumstances. May perseverance finish its work in me, that I may become mature and complete, lacking nothing. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Here are prayers to get well soon.

Peace with the Future

Father, I want to thank You for giving me a future to look forward to. A future beyond my earthly life. A future that is separated from sin. A future that is free from pain, tears, fears, and death. Thank You for an eternity that we can spend in Your glorious presence and renewed earth. Thank You for a future eternal future that is secure in the work of Christ.

While I am on this side of heaven, my future does not always feel stable. Most days are filled with the unknown. No one can be sure of tomorrow. I confess that I find myself looking to the future with anxiety. Your word says not to worry about tomorrow because every day has enough troubles of its own.

Help me to take one day at a time. Remind me to bring my worries to You daily. You alone know the future, and I can find peace in Your plans for me. Please rid me of the fear of the future. Help me to grow in dependence on You. Rid me of any trust in myself or the plans that I have for myself. Help me to keep my plans loose, knowing that what You will for me will come to pass.
