10 Sunday Prayers & Blessings

|

Say these short prayers & blessings for your Sunday to start the week with faith, purpose, and direction by fixing your eyes on the Lord.

Sunday is that day in the week when we get to gather with fellow believers around God’s Word, rest, reflect on the week that has passed, and prepare for the week that lies ahead.

One of the best ways that you can prepare your heart for Sunday service, and the coming week ahead is through dedicated prayer. These Sunday prayers and blessings are a great way to honor the Lord on the Sabbath and can serve as inspiration for future times of prayer.

As a new week approaches, taking time to ask for God’s guidance, thanking Him for His blessings, and focusing on time to worship and praise Him can make all the difference.

If you’re looking for ways in which you can pray on Sundays, we hope that these prayers and blessings will help you do just that.

These are some of the prayers I pray myself to help keep my heart in a place of gratitude and worship, being sensitive to God’s voice in the midst of a very busy life.

May they bless you and draw you nearer to the Lord, as well.

1. A Powerful Sunday Morning Prayer

“Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.” – Psalm 19:14

Gracious God,

Thank You for this beautiful gift of a Sunday morning, and for the reminder that Your mercies are new each day. I am grateful for another day that I get to wake up in Your loving presence and know that You are always near, no matter the day or time.

Thank You for a night of restful and safe sleep, and the gift of another day. Help me to prepare my heart to be attentive and focused on You today, and guide me through every decision and interaction that I will have today.

As I go about my day, I ask that You fill me with Your peace, and help me to lay all my burdens down before You. Please settle any anxiety that is in my heart, and help me to rest in Your presence, and live in love.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

2. A Prayer For Church Sunday Morning

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Dear Heavenly Father,

I praise You for the gift of fellowship that I get to share with fellow believers in Christ. As I prepare for church, my prayer is that You would prepare my heart to engage with others and to receive Your Word that is preached with discernment, humility, and submission.

May all those who will attend the service today be renewed in their minds, and strengthened in their faith, myself included. Help us to serve one another in humility, and to do nothing out of selfish ambition.

I pray for those who are leading the service, behind the scenes, the worship team, and the teacher. Please fill them with Your Spirit, and use them as Your instruments today.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

3. A Beautiful Sunday Morning Prayer Of Thanksgiving

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

O Lord,

This is the day You have made, help me to rejoice and be glad in it! Thank you for this good morning and the gift of life. So often, my heart can be focused on what seems to be lacking or going wrong, according to my understanding. But this morning, I ask that You fill my heart with complete gratitude.

Thank You for blessing me with a new day. I know that every day that I am alive is a gift, and is something to cherish. Thank You for my loved ones, and the way that You love and care for me, day in and day out.

I am grateful for so many things, but more than anything, I am grateful to You for Christ. Thank You for His precious gift of grace, and love that has brought me life, and has given me eternal hope. I am eternally grateful.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

You are such a good Father – loving and kind. Thank You for Your powerful presence in my life.

Dear God,

May this day of the Lord be filled with Your amazing grace, and unfailing love. May Your Word be preached and pierce through the hearts of all those who hear it. May we who hear it not only be hearers but doers of Your Word.

Let the church sing Your praises and bring You all the worship and adoration that You deserve. May we be a blessing to one another, and serve humbly in the gifting that You have given us before, during, and after our church services.

May Your peace and hope overflow, and may my anxious heart find rest in You. Keep my mind from distractions and set it on the things that are above, those things that are eternal and of the most value.

In Your holy name, amen.

6. A Blessing For Your Coming Week

May this week bring about wonderful connections with others, and a deeper intimacy with You, Lord. Set my heart on Your Word, and lead me by Your Spirit.

Let my strength be found in You, and my joy come from You. Let me not be shaken or moved by anything that this week brings, for You are with me, and You hold me together.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
