Friday Coffee Date – Engagement Photo Edition

Engagement photos (eek!), walkin’ on sunshine, caramel birthday cake, and family time.

Every week, I make time to connect with the most important people in my life. I have small group, weekly family dinner, Monday phone dates with my best friend, and Skype dates with my prayer partner.

Which is why I want to have a Friday virtual coffee date with you.

I would absolutely love to meet you in person and hear about the ups and downs and in-betweens of your life, but since that’s difficult to manage, the next best thing would be for you to leave me a comment or shoot me an email. I really do care about what’s going on with you! I have an ongoing list in my prayer journal of blog readers who have reached out to me sharing struggles, successes, and just everyday life stuff and I love all of it!

Here’s what’s been going on in my world.

Engagement Photos

We actually took these photos a while ago, but I forgot that I hadn’t shared them with you yet!

That day I was probably colder than I’ve ever been in my entire life, but it was worth it. I just love these pictures and they get me even more excited to marry this man in just a couple of months!

P.S. In case you missed it, our proposal story is here!

Walkin’ On Sunshine

Engagement photos (eek!), walkin' on sunshine, caramel birthday cake, and family time.

In contrast to the freezing cold and snow in our engagement pictures, I wore shorts and a t-shirt yesterday!

It was a pretty big moment for me, seeing as I’ve spent the majority of the last 6 months in as many layers as I could fit on my body.

This week, I’ve been making up excuses to spend more time outside because the weather has been so beautiful

Do you see my capri running pants and my sleeves rolled up?!

I’m so excited for summer!

Winter makes me want to cuddle up inside under blankets with a mug of hot tea, but warm weather makes me want to be outside walkin’ on sunshine (which my furry companion loves even more than I do).

A Caramel Birthday Cake

It was my brother-in-law’s birthday this week, so we celebrated with crazy amounts of delicious food!

My sister went all out and made homemade chicken fried steak, gravy from scratch, mashed potatoes, salad, peaches, and, of course, birthday cake.

I was in charge of the frosting and I was pretty disappointed in it, but the birthday boy enjoyed it and that’s all that matters!

Also, eating this after not having sugar for a week made this taste REALLY sweet. Now, I really (really) love cake, but I couldn’t finish my piece. And I’ve hardly touched my Easter candy.

It’s amazing how much can change in a week of no sugar.

Family Time

Engagement photos (eek!), walkin' on sunshine, caramel birthday cake, and family time.

During family dinner this week, my 5-year-old nephew was playing hide and seek…

and he was actually able to fit inside my sister’s dresser drawer.

His hide and seek game is top notch.

Adam is getting so attached to Strider (my sister’s dog).

He is going to be really sad when we move into our own place in a couple of months and Strider doesn’t get to move in with us.

What’s New With You?

Enough about me, I want to hear about YOU.

Did you have engagement pictures taken?

What is your favorite kind of birthday cake?

Do you have strong attachments to other people’s pets?

No engagement pictures. 2nd time for both of us and we weren't even too sure about wedding pics. Basically we eloped to Jamaica but we did have a photographer and happy with our decision. Skip the birthday cake and make me a fruit pie! I like other people's pets a lot more than I like most people!

Wow! Eloping to Jamaica sounds dreamy! It's my second marriage and Adam's first. We had talked about eloping, but we really want to celebrate with our close friends and family. And ha! That's hilarious! Sometimes I prefer the pets over the owners, too!

No engagement pictures taken. Yours were awesome. I especially like the one where he is holding your face/hair while you are sitting on the snow covered ground. German chocolate is my favorite. Course I like birthday cake with the real frosting. I am really attached to our dogs, my Missy is getting older and I can't stand the thought. We have two Chihuahua poms, Missy and Bubba, and 1 basset hound, Daisy. They are definitely family.

Thanks, Meloni! That one is my favorite, too. :-) Ohhh...yes, I love German chocolate cake. We were at the dog park last week and there was an adorable basset hound there. it sounds like you have such a sweet family!
