There’s a lot of emotion involved, if it’s a home you’ve lived in for years, you may feel rather sad to let go of it. But if you’re moving onto something new, there’s also anticipation and excitement.

Like every decision, and moment in your life, you can seek God’s help through prayer. Because it’s such a big undertaking, it’s important to remember that God has the peace, wisdom, direction and providence that you’re needing throughout this process.

So if you’re getting ready to put your house on sale or you are currently in the process, these prayers are made especially for you.

1. Prayer for Home to Sell Quickly 

Father,

Thank You for the home that You’ve provided us with. We’ve had many fond memories there, and seen both the highs and the lows of life. I know those times will be cherished for years to come. 

But now it’s time for a new chapter, and that means moving on from this place we call home. It’s not a small transition, and there are so many moving parts to this. 

It can be easy to feel anxious or overwhelmed, especially if the timeline for selling the house is uncertain. My prayer is that You would please allow our home to sell quickly. 

If there is anyone who is looking for a home to buy, may they come across our home. May this house meet their needs, and be what they’ve been looking for. Please help the process to go smoothly, and for the handing over to be as simplified as possible. 

If there are any issues with the home that may pose an obstacle or keep buyers from moving forward, please make it known to us and help us resolve the issue. In all things, help us to trust You ways, and Your timing. In Jesus’ name, amen. 

2. Prayer for God’s Guidance 

Lord,

I am so thankful that I can turn to You in the midst of every situation in life. Thank You for being my guiding light in the dark, and the one who instructs me when I don’t know which way to go. 

My prayer is that Your wisdom would guide me in the process of selling our house. I know that it can be a long, frustrating process, and it looks different for everyone. 

There are many unknowns, and things that we don’t have control over, but that I know You do. Please help me to place my trust in You, and to seek Your leading. 

I ask that Your Holy Spirit would guide me in the decisions that I have to make along the way. Help me to choose the right agent, to figure out an appropriate pricing, and to work through any obstacles that might arise.

If there are any negotiations that need to be made, I ask that You would guide me in Your wisdom. Please help me to be discerning, and to know if I need to wait on a different buyer. In Jesus’ name, amen. 

3. Prayer to Find The Right Buyer

Father in Heaven,

Thank You for being with me through this journey of selling our home. Sometimes it can feel so overwhelming, and I worry whether we will find the right buyers at the right time.

I know that many things are out of my hands in this process. I take comfort in knowing that all things are in Your hands, and that You are sovereign even in this process.

It is easy to get excited when we connect with a potential buyer. The desire to sell the house can quickly make us feel eager and hopeful, but I know that discretion and discernment is still needed when there is interest.

Please help us to know when someone is not being upfront, or if the situation will be complicated. Help us to discern wisely, and to find people who truly desire a home that they can love and take care of.

Help us to find the right buyer, one who is excited but who is also serious about the process. If we meet with the right buyer, I ask that You would give us both peace, and a clear way forward.

If it takes us a while to find the right buyer, please help us to remain patient and hopeful. Remind us that it is a lot more important for this process to go well than to find ourselves in a rushed situation.In Jesus’ name, amen. 

4. Prayer for Patience When Home Isn’t Selling 

Lord,

I am in need of Your patience today, and every day as we wait for the house to sell. I feel as though I am growing anxious each day that the house still feels so far away from selling. 

I know that selling and buying a house is a big decision. Just as we have things to consider as we are selling, I know that those who are looking to potentially buy have things to consider too.

Please help me not to grow discouraged as we wait for the right buyer. Remind me that it is as much a tough decision and a massive investment for those who are thinking of buying a house.

I ask that You would be our comfort in times where it feels like the process is standing still. Help us to remember that You protect us from certain situations that might have cost us a lot more in the end.

If there is anything about our home that is not appealing to buyers, please give us wisdom in how to deal with it. Help us to present our home in the best way possible, while still being transparent. 

Please help me to bring all of my frustrations, and doubts to You. I ask that You would fill me with Your peace, and help me to trust in Your time and not my own. In Jesus’ name, amen. 

5. Prayer for Peace Among Family Amid Selling Process 

Lord,

It is so easy to get worked up during this house selling process. The quickest way for that frustration to come out is often with those closest to us, and in this case, my family.

When even one of us is on the edge, it affects everyone else in the home. I know I have been guilty of allowing my frustration to spill over my relationships.

Please help me to remember that this process is tasking by itself, and that we need peace among ourselves to overcome the obstacles we are facing. 

Help us not to act towards one another with impatience, pride or anger. Please grant us patience and kindness toward each other. Help us to listen to one another, and to help where needed. 

May we remember to enjoy the moments that we have with one another, and that we will all be together when this process is over. Help us not to strain our relationships for something that is temporary.

Help us to remember that the outcome of this process isn’t in our hands at the end of the way. It’s in Your hands. May we as a family seek Your face for guidance, peace, unity and the sale of our home. In Jesus’ name, amen. 

6. Prayer to Trust God As Provider

Father, 

As we go through this process of selling our home, I am reminded that You have always taken care of us. When we didn’t know how we would make it, You provided a way.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that You are the same God who brought us through past valleys and trials, and that You never change. I am really in need of that reminder today.

I know there are many unknowns when it comes to selling a home. We have no idea how long it will take, or if it will take a few interested buyers before the right one comes along.

All of those thoughts can easily consume me, and create worry inside of me. But Your word says that we don’t have to worry. We don’t have to fret about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry for itself.

More than that, we don’t have to worry because You already know what we need before we even ask for it. As we move forward with this process, I ask that You would help me to trust in You as my provider. 

When things seem to grow stagnant, or the process becomes more than we expected it to be, please help us rest in the comfort that You are with us. Help us to lean on You, knowing that You are for us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
