10 Prayers For A Healthy Pregnancy
Congratulations on your sweet unborn child! Use these prayers for a healthy pregnancy to lift both you and your precious baby before the Lord.
Pregnancy is such a unique season filled with all kinds of emotions.
- joy for a new addition to your family
- fear about your health and making sure you make the right decisions
- worry over the unknowns
- frustration that your body has new limitations, aches, & pains
- that intense rollercoaster of hormones that brings extreme joy and sadness at any given moment, sometimes for no recognizable reason whatsoever
Navigating all of those things can be so tricky, but prayer can help in so many ways.
It can bring peace to your stress, hope to your weary body, calm to your worries, and allow you to experience so much more joy in this journey as you draw nearer to the Lord in prayer.
Prayer certainly doesn’t have to be done one specific way. You can pray in brief thoughts throughout your day, over meals, with your small group, or writing in your journal.
The prayers below are just examples of prayers for a healthy pregnancy that I prayed through my own pregnancy to inspire you and spark a desire in you to talk to God about every detail of your day and struggle in your heart as you go through this first season of motherhood – as a new mom to your unborn child.
Enjoy the prayers below!

Gratitude
Thank You, Lord, for this sweet bundle of joy You’ve blessed me with!
I am so grateful that You have made me a mom to this specific baby. Help me to always remember this feeling of joy and thankfulness when I think of them throughout their entire life.
This unborn baby is an answered prayer, a precious gift. Help me to be a mom who always tells my child how grateful I am for their life – that they don’t have to do a single thing to earn my love.
I delight in them just for being them.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
To Calm Worry & Anxiety
God, I need Your help right now.
My body is anxious and my thoughts are racing with worries about things that are out of my control for me and my baby. Please, calm the storm in me with Your steady hand.
Reel back in my thoughts from jumping from “what if” to “what if” and root them firmly in Your Word, drowning out all of my worries with Your peace that passes all understanding.
I’m feeling afraid but Your Word says Your perfect love casts out fear. I lift every worry, fear, and uncertainty up to You right now.
In Your Son‘s precious name, I pray. Amen.
A Healthy Pregnancy For Your Body
Lord, thank You for creating our bodies to be so divinely complex and unique.
What a miracle that You created me to carry and grow this life inside of me! Please, help my body to stay healthy during this pregnancy – for both me and my baby. Show me how to nourish and take care of my body well in my eating and my exercise.
Help me to balance my work and give my body the extra rest it needs while also managing my stress my sleep, my stress to help my baby to grow just as they should. Bring strength, stamina, and endurance to my body during these 9 months.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
A Healthy, Growing Baby
Almighty God, You have already created this baby to be fearfully and wonderfully made – a child in Your own image.
Please, keep my baby healthy. Protect us from miscarriage and health issues during this pregnancy. Allow this baby’s body to grow and develop just as You created them to be. Give them a strong heartbeat, sturdy lungs, and a healthy brain.
Knit each part of their little body together uniquely as only You can with Your Divine hands. You are good and You are faithful and I thank You for this beautiful gift.
In Your Name, I pray. Amen.
For Wisdom In Your Decisions
Heavenly Father, it can feel so overwhelming to make the right choices for me and my baby.
Decisions from what I should eat to the details of my birth plan…everyone has their own opinion, the internet is full of way too many options, and it’s so hard to know what the right choices for us are. Will You please soften the noise so that I can hear Your voice guiding me in each of these decisions?
Some of them are big, some of them seem insignificantly small, but all of them affect us. Cover me in Your peace and help me to stay rooted in Your Word, prioritizing your voice above all others.
Show me the path You have for me, one step at a time, and help me to trust You each step of the way.
Thank You for Your guidance in my life. Amen.
To Ease Aches & Pains
Lord, my body is sore, stiff, and achy all over.
Will You please bring me comfort from some of this pain? I can’t seem to find any relief – even lying in bed can be uncomfortable! It’s frustrating and discouraging to feel these extra limitations my body has right now, but I know they are all worth it to grow this sweet baby.
Give me wisdom in how to care for my body well – stepping back from certain things or modifying my activities to fit my current body’s needs.
Help me to find comfortable positions and safe ways to move and help me to keep my thoughts fixed on You, remembering that this momentary discomfort is just temporary, even when it feels like it’ll last forever.
I love You and trust You. Amen.
Morning Sickness
God, this morning sickness has been really difficult for me.
When it kicks up, I can’t even think because I feel so terrible. Help me to manage all of the demands in my life right now while still taking care of myself during this season of morning sickness.
Help me to eat well to take care of both myself and the baby, even when my body wants nothing to do with food. And, please, give me some relief from this sickness.
Protect my words from complaining, but also show me how to ask for help when I need it. Thank You for being my rock, my firm foundation, in sickness and in health.
In Your Name, I pray. Amen.
Pregnancy Insomnia
Heavenly Father, I’ve been struggling so much to be able to sleep lately.
I know my hormones are all over the place and this is just one of my body’s responses to them, but it is so difficult to be awake all night, knowing I desperately need rest to get through tomorrow and not being able to get it.
Please, Lord, allow my body to sleep to get the rest it needs for me and my baby’s health. Cover me with Your peace and calm my worries when I fear that I may never sleep again.
Protect my thoughts from anxiety and stress and allow me to rest in Your presence, experiencing Your faithfulness and goodness in ways I never have before.
In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
For Your Growing Family
Lord, I smile just thinking about this new addition to our family and how this baby is going to add things to our life that we didn’t even know we were missing before.
I pray that You help every member of our family make room in their hearts for this special little one. I ask that You would help each of us adjust to all of the changes that will come with bringing a new baby home and help us to be sensitive to each others’ needs and love each other well during this transition.
Help us to grow even stronger relationships with each other right now as we come together as a family welcoming a new child.
Thank You for blessing our family. We love You so much.
In Your Name, I pray, amen.
For Patience
God, it’s so hard to be patient right now!
I’m so anxious to meet this little one. What will they look like? What will their personality be like? What will they love in life?
I can’t wait to find out but I also don’t want to miss the beauty of this season we are in right now.
Help me to stay present, right here, experiencing the unique gift of today and all it has to offer. Help me to look at every part of today with faith eyes, seeing what’s right in front of me, but also recognizing its divine significance in Your Kingdom.
Thank You for weaving all things together for my good. I love You, Lord.
Thank You for today. Amen.
