30 Days of Juicing – Day 7

|

This marks a week of juicing!

This pair of jeans?  I couldn’t fit into them in January (and I wasn’t even close!).  And today, they fit.  Comfortably.

I think I was overly ambitious when I was making my juice last night.  I’m trying hard to add a bunch of vegetables to get the most health kick out of juicing, but I ended up making a nastily flavored drink that I really didn’t want to consume (I partly blame the fact that I decided to juice the watermelon rind last night…it really messed with the sweetness of the watermelon that I’ve become accustomed to expecting in my drinks).  Just like when I cook, I need to learn to taste my juices before I take them to work.  I did find out that I’m not a fan of juicing tomatoes and to take it easy on the red peppers (man, they’re strong!).

If I had been at home, I could have simply juiced more fruit to mix with it and it would taste fine.  But at work, I’m completely helpless.  There’s absolutely nothing else in the school I can eat.  So, my husband saved me.  He brought me a big ol’ Naked juice to drink until I get home tonight and try to salvage the other juices.  I love him.

I’m really hoping the sleeping thing wasn’t a fluke.  I’ve NEVER stayed on my weekday sleeping schedule on the weekends, but this past weekend I did without even trying.  But then last night hit.  I couldn’t go to sleep for the life of me (think multiple hours after I was supposed to)!  So, of course, I was dragging this morning.  We’ll see what happens on that front as the juicing continues.

And, because it is hardest for me to stay away from food at night, I laid in bed planning ways to sneak into the kitchen to grab a string cheese, running to Domino’s for a deep dish meat lover’s pizza, and grilling a massive porterhouse (I can thank Worst Cooks in America for that one idea!).  Seriously.  I was the closest I’ve been so far to actually eating last night.  It was a major mental battle for me, half of me trying to convince myself one little snack wouldn’t ruin the diet and the other half fighting to stay true to the fast (and to Maryam!).
