30 Days of Juicing – Day 1
I’ve already told you about my BFF Maryam getting married in a couple of months.
Maryam and I go all the way back to the beginning of 6th grade (yes, those are my bangs. Â Maryam is the reason I came to my senses and grew them out). Â She has been everything to me over the years: my secret keeper, my playmate, my shoulder to cry on, my note-passer, my motivator, my favorite sleepover friend, my partner in crime, my exercise buddy, my constant source of encouragement, and so much more.
And now she wants to lose a few pounds before her wedding because they’re being quite stubborn and just won’t come off.
And I happen to need to lose another 27 pounds to reach my goal weight.
So when Maryam called me last night and asked if I would go on a 30-day juice fast with her….well, I didn’t say yes immediately. Â I told her I would do it for breakfast and lunch, but then make normal dinners.
But then I felt guilty.  Because she has done everything for me.  Really, she has. So, I told her I would go all in.
So, I brought out the juicer I bought so many months ago (that I used for a whole *ahem* day.).
Today, I’ll be drinking Bolthouse Farms juice (Berry Boost, Amazing Mango, and Blue Goodness) , because it’s what I had on hand and I haven’t had time to go to the grocery store for fresh produce yet, but starting tomorrow, it’s going to be fresh juice all the time.
Solidarity, sister! We’re in this together!
All juice. Â No food. Â For 30 days. Â I can do this…right?
See how the rest of the juicing experiment went:

I’ve tried fasting before and did ok for 13 days. Then a friend dropped by with a pizza since I had picked up her son from school. That threw me off. I couldn’t say no. Bummer. That was January and since then, I’ve been trying to juice at least once a day. Check out Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead: http://www.jointhereboot.com/index.php?lang=en or http://lindawagner.net/blog/
Keep posting. I look forward to hearing about your juicing experience. :o)
So are you going have carrot juice for Easter? 😉
Liesl, you should do it with us! Just do the morning and lunch.
Yeah, BFF and now Juice Buddy!! Day #1. It’s so hard to juice strawberries and not eat one! They say the first 2-3 Days are the hardest, then the endorphins kick in and it’s all down hill. I think the nights are hard…last night I ate Turkey, 2 bags of 100 Calories Healthy Pop popcorn, Dried Mangoes, Simply Orange juice, a pint of Ice Cream, and yogurt covered pretzels. After listing all that I’m sure my body is begging me to juice. Becky, I can’t believe Daniel is going to eat cereal for a month! Wow, Zach still eats popcorn in front of me…even worse peanut butter! Go Becky, Go! Love ya sista! P.S I remember hiking up to make those hot dogs!
knowing you, you can! I don’t even think *I* could do that! Maybe I could do the Bolthouse farms ones for breakfast and lunch like you are today (I’ve done that before at work) but I honestly don’t think I could do 30 days no food… :/ I’m a wimp. I love food so much. But I bet you can! And maybe just maybe I’ll have the strength to try it sometime… Jason did a 30 day fast of only having strict fruits and vegetables pretty much once. Not sure how much it helped him but maybe he’d do it again!
