30 Days of Juicing – Day 8
I figured out how to get the juice straight from the juicer into the bottle! This is a big victory for me! Almost every night, when I’m trying to transfer juice from the little juicer pitcher to the bottle, the foam gets in the way and causes a bunch of juice to spill in my sink. Not fun. So, I moved the juicer closer to the sink and stuck a bag of raisins underneath the bottle, leaving both of my hands free to juice! Victory! (It’s the little things)
Last night I dreamed that I woke up in the middle of the night, snuck into the kitchen, and ate everything that I could find (string cheese, cereal, crackers, that Tupperware full of leftover spaghetti in our freezer…). I woke up so angry with myself for giving in to the temptation! I also dreamed that I hadn’t finished my book report due today for the class I interpret. Interpreters don’t have to do book reports for the classes they interpret. That had me thinking that I should probably go to the kitchen to check the food. All of the dream food was present and accounted for. Phew. And no book report due today, for me or the students. Double phew.
My juices today were delicious. I actually looked forward to drinking them! The cucumber really added the perfect amount of cool, refreshing taste to the juice. And I think I may have miraculously hit the perfect fruit/veggie balance for now. It was sweet, but not too sweet. Last night when I was filling one of the bottles, it was about to overflow, so I ended up sipping some straight apple juice. Whoa! It was like candy it was so sweet!
So, the major negative side effect of juicing (besides the not eating food, of course) is that I have to go to the bathroom all. the. time. I drink my meals. I drink water in between. It’s terrible. It drives me up a wall. Or, I guess in this case, to the bathroom. Hate it.
But speaking of not eating food, check out what I wasn’t able to eat today. It was one of our classroom kid’s birthdays. Their mom bought them a super expensive, custom made cake from a bakery. Everyone (including the teacher) said it was the best cake they’ve ever tasted.
The top tier was chocolate. The bottom tier was vanilla. There was buttercream involved. And everyone said the fondant tasted like bubble gum. Did I mention the only part left of the cake after the kids had eaten was the entire middle of the bottom tier? A massive middle piece calling my name. I almost caved. But at lunch, I texted Maryam and she reminded me that soon I will be eating their wedding cake. Three different kinds- red velvet with cream cheese frosting, orange Grand Marnier with passion fruit, and chocolate gluten-free with raspberry filling. Worth waiting for. 🙂
I went to the gym tonight and I did 30 minutes on the elliptical at a very easy pace.

See how the rest of the juicing experiment went:

I have the same “cheating” dreams! I always wake up feeling guilty, then relieved that I didn’t binge on a ton of food.
