So, last night, I posted my mood as happy. I posted that before I juiced. I got so angry at the process!
I had already gone to the gym and Skyped with my sister and niece and the night just got away from me. Normally, on nights like that, I’ll grab a sub for dinner or just snack on things around the house. Same for things for me to take for breakfast and lunch the next day. I always have little things ready for me to take to work to eat, whether it is a package of crackers or cereal or a frozen container of leftovers – something is always ready to grab and go.

“Grab and go” is impossible with juicing. I have been supplementing a few of my meals with Naked juice, but really the juice is supposed to be made fresh every time. Cleaning the machine is a fast process now. It just takes a few minutes for me to take it from a juice explosion kitchen disaster to completely clean. But the juicing itself takes forever. My average time spent juicing every night is an hour. It doesn’t sound like a lot. A lot of recipes take an hour to make. But, then you have to compare the two. When you’re cooking, you spend some time preparing the food, but then you either let it bake or boil or simmer…leaving it alone. In that house I spend juicing every night, I spend every minute of it either cutting watermelon, peeling oranges/grapefruits, taking food out of the fridge, putting it back, washing the produce, taking stickers off of apples/pears/plums, pulling grapes off of the stems, or pushing fruit down into the juicer (which can take a lot of work sometimes!). It wasn’t bad the first few days when I was still learning the ropes, but I guess doing it every night is getting to me. Or at least it was last night! We’ll see how tonight goes.
I had a great day yesterday. I was energized, in a great mood, had a good day at work, loved the gym, adored my niece, then juicing put me in a really sour mood. I had added whey powderto my dinner drink last night and it tasted amazing and I ended up drinking some Naked mango juice on top of that, which seemed to fill me up at the time, but, once again, as soon as I laid down to go to bed, my stomach went crazy. It seems like no matter how much I drink, I’m always ravenous at night. I’ve tried drinking more dinner juice, adding whey protein powder, drinking the Naked mango juice, drinking more water…nothing seems to satiate me at night. It’s frustrating. I was angry with the whole process last night.
And then today a driend told me she didn’t think the full juice fast was right for me. I may have been having some light-headed spells (which I normally just contribute to my vertigo). I called Maryam about it and since she’s running the Boston Marathon soon (I know! Isn’t she awesome?!), she needed to add something to the juicing, too….So, she suggested we still do a lot of juicing, but mix in some raw foods, too.
I LOVE the new plan! It seems so much less extreme and so much more doable! I chewed tonight and it. felt. great. I’m planning on just juicing during the day and eating raw at night.

Can I do the cleanse with only the.naked juices from the store?
Yay, for some solid foods! It will improve your workouts and hopefully get rid of those hunger pains. Raw foods are all fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds (including sprouted whole grains such as gaba rice), eggs, fish (such as sashimi), meat (such as carpaccio), and non-pasteurized/non-homogenized dairy products (such as raw milk, raw milk cheese, and raw milk yogurt). Preferably not cooked in more than 110 degrees. This opens up a of variety of food choices and recipe options! Have fun!
awww so glad you found something that works! I also think I’d have a REALLY hard time with no solids for that long. I struggle with just missing a meal to fast. I get dizzy so easy, especially when I don’t eat right. What kinds of raw foods are you eating? Only 21 days left! You can do it! 🙂 I’m proud of you!
