30 Days of Juicing – Day 4
Yesterday was not bad at all! I’m starting to fall into a routine, which is really nice. I make my dinner and the next day’s breakfast and lunch all at the same time, in an effort to only wash the juicer once a day. I know it’s better to drink the juice as soon after you make it as possible, but at this point it is unrealistic for me to be able to do it all in the morning before going to work!(By the way, I’m Instagraming and Tweeting some about the juicing, too…if you’re interested! @so_very_blessed on Twitter and soveryblessed on Instagram!)

I have a certain counter I like to use to cut the fruits and vegetables and the juicer is set up right next to the sink for easier cleanup. Cleaning the juicer really isn’t that bad. Most of the time, everything rinses right off (though I still scrub everything with soap). I’ve learned that a potato scrub brush is the easiest way to clean the actual chopper thingy (I’ve really picked up on the terminology…can you tell?). I keep trying to tell myself that it’s just like a one dish meal…the only difference is my one “dish” happens to have a few more parts. And a lot of fruit and vegetable pulp. Which, honestly, kind of grosses me out.

I wasn’t hungry at all during the day yesterday! Dinner fills me up, but then it seems like every night right as I’m going to sleep, my stomach growls like crazy to be fed! But it’s not the best time to get out of bed, prepare the fruit, then wash the juicer. Maybe I need to start adding a bit more to dinner! But…I found some courage last night and threw some spinach in…and couldn’t even taste it!
So far, I’d say my favorite juicing foods are grapes, watermelon, oranges, and spinach, Those fruits produce a LOT of juice, which is really nice! And the spinach is just so easy to grab and toss in there. I’m definitely still at the place where I want to cover up the spinach taste, but it’s only taken me 3 days to get to the spinach, so who knows what I’ll be doing after 30 days!
And tonight is my cheat meal. I picked out what I was going to order months ago I was first asked to go to this place – Prime Rib Fries (to share) and Bacon Macaroni & Cheese (er…not to share). I know. I’m the picture of health. I’m not planning to eat myself silly, but I am planning to enjoy the things I order. I am very much looking forward to the meal, but I am also confident that I didn’t need a cheat meal tonight. I could totally keep drinking juice and be absolutely fine, but…it’s definitely nice to have food to look forward to.

Roo, thanks for the tip! My big hesitation with that is that I HATE having to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom!
Anonymous – There is actually quite a bit of protein in the fruits and veggies! But, my mom was also worried about the protein, so to ease her mind, I’m going to start adding some wheatgrass into the juice. 😉
where are you getting protein?
Try drinking a big glass of water when you get hungry at night. They say a lot of times when you think you’re hungry you’re actually needing water.
Good luck!
