19 Bible Verses on Confidence and Self Esteem
Use these 19 Bible verses on confidence and
Before we jump into the Bible verses on these topics, I’d like to take a second to redefine the term self-esteem.
Self-esteem is typically defined as confidence in one’s own worth or abilities.
As a Christian, I define
If you are anything like me, your low self-esteem could be:
- keeping you quiet when the Lord is asking you to speak up
- hiding your God-given gifts
- convincing you to try to be like everyone else when you were created differently on purpose
- stealing your joy when you go through your days not allowing yourself to live authentically as the person God created you to be
- robbing you of confidence to live the purposeful life God created you for
- convincing you your strengths are actually your weaknesses
- trying to tell you that you’re being humble when really you’re just looking down on yourself and not seeing the image of God built into you
- …and so much moe.
A confidence rooted in Christ is not dependent on my own abilities (because those can be so unreliable!), but

Scripture to Grow Your Confidence & Self-Esteem
It has been vitally important for me to rely on the Truth of these verses. I used to be 100 pounds overweight and I was in an emotionally abusive marriage for 6 years. Both of those things filled me with insecurities, low self-worth, and made me doubt my confidence and value as a person.
I tried so hard, but I just wasn’t good enough.
Don’t give in to that lie!
You are more than enough but don’t take my word for it.
Let’s look at what God’s Word has to say on the subject of confidence and self-esteem.

1. Joshua 1:9 – Be Strong & Courageous
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
When you don’t feel like you’re good enough, it’s easy to want to blend in, hide in the back, and avoid bringing any attention to yourself.
But God commands you to be strong and courageous!
Not in your own abilities or strengths, but because God will be with you wherever you go. You can live in confidence because of His strength.
2. Jeremiah 17:7 – Strong Confidence Comes From Trusting The Lord
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
Again, the message here is that we don’t have to stress so much about our own weaknesses. We don’t have to be the smartest, the most successful, the most productive, or the most anything.
Our job is to do our best and trust that the Lord will work through that.
And we can have confidence that He always does.
3. Psalm 27:3 – You Can Be Confident Despite Your Circumstance
Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
even then I will be confident.
Can you imagine this scenario?
I’ve never been in the military, but I know exactly how terrifying it feels when hurtful words are thrown at me. Words that cut to the bone and destroy the things you desire most – love, affection, acceptance, security.
Even in those moments when people (or even your own thoughts!) are coming at you with weapons ready to attack, your heart doesn’t have to respond in fear (unless it’s a fear of the Lord – that’s good and godly and increases your confidence in Him!).
Even (and especially) then, you can be confident. You are a child of God and nothing can overtake you.
4. Psalm 139:13–14 – Your Worth Is In Christ
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
Oh, how I love this verse. When everything about me feels wrong and broken and misfit into this world, I can rely on the fact that God created me just the way I am on purpose.
You weren’t a mistake. You were fearfully and wonderfully made by an Almighty God who does everything on purpose.
That right there is enough reason to walk with your head held high!
5. Proverbs 3:25-26 – The Lord Will Be At Your Side
Have no fear of sudden disaster
or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,
for the Lord will be at your side
and will keep your foot from being snared.
I don’t know about you, but I second-guess every step I take. Was that the right decision? Am I listening to myself or to God? What if I lose my husband? What if we can’t afford rent?
What if, what if, what if?
Worrying about the future doesn’t help you avoid disaster, but knowing the Lord will be at your side, keeping your foot from being snared, can allow you to live confidently even when you don’t know all of the answers.
6. 2 Chronicles 32:8 – The People Gained Confidence
With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people gained confidence from what Hezekiah the king of Judah said.
Have you heard the song “Surrounded” by Upperroom?
The lyrics are simple but powerful.
“It may look like I’m surrounded, but I’m surrounded by You…
This is how I fight my battles.”
And it’s true. Our job is simply to rely on Him and to know that the Almighty God is the one who will fight whatever battles we may be facing in life.
7. Isaiah 32:17 – Confidence Comes From Peace & Righteousness
The fruit of that righteousness will be peace;
its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t typically associate the words “peace” and “confidence” together.
When I think of confidence, I think of bold, loud, and somewhat confrontational.
But that’s the beauty of the confidence we have in the Lord, right?
It doesn’t look like the confidence we associate with the world. It’s bold alright, but in a way the brings peace and quietness – something beyond our own understanding!
That’s quite soothing to this peacemaker’s heart.
8. Isaiah 40:31 – Hope In The Lord & He Will Carry You Through
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
God has a record of doing big things with ordinary people.
Moses was not an eloquent public speaker, yet God equipped him as a leader to talk to Pharaoh and lead the children of Israel out of Egypt.
God equipped David, a teenage shepherd boy, to take down Goliath when there was an army of armored soldiers right there.
If you’re feeling discouraged and weak when it comes to handling the problems in your life, the answer isn’t to give up.
Hope in the Lord.
He is the God of hope. He will renew your strength and show you strengths you never even knew you had!
9. Isaiah 41:10 – Do Not Fear
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Are you starting to see a theme here?
When you’re facing hard things, don’t let fear paralyze you.
Whether you’ve lost a job, are facing difficulties in your marriage, don’t know how you will ever lose all that extra weight you’re carrying, or hundreds of other things that could plague us with worry, “do not fear.“
You’re not called to worry harder. You’re called to choose to believe that God is who He says He is.
He WILL strengthen you.
He WILL help you.
He WILL uphold you.
10. Philippians 1:6 – Place Your Confidence In Christ, Not Your Own Works
being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
From the very beginning, God began a good work in you.
When you’re feeling worthless, discouraged, and defeated, rest in this Truth.
You were created with a purpose – to do good things for the Lord.
He started that good work in you before you were even born and has not stopped carrying on that good in you every single day of your life.
You are good because you are God’s.
11. Philippians 4:13 – God Gives You Strength
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
I don’t know about you, but I always feel like I have to earn my strength.
- Put in the hours at the gym doing push-ups for strong arms.
- Study hard for good grades to be strong in academics.
- Practice patience over and over again to get stronger in my relationships.
That makes sense to me. Work hard and reap the rewards.
But that’s not what God is saying here.
Your hard work is not the source of your strength – He is.
And that is such a beautiful gift.
12. Ephesians 3:12 – Approach God With Confidence
In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.
Did you catch the important word here? Faith.
It’s through our faith that we can experience the fullness of freedom and confidence.
Not by being a better person through good works. Not by trying harder.
By believing. Our faith is the key.
13. 1 Corinthians 2:3–5 – Your Confidence Is In God’s Power, Not Your Own Ability
I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.
How incredible is it that this passage acknowledges our human frailty (weakness, great fear, and trembling), but also reassures us that that’s not all we have to rely on.
Our human wisdom, our limited perspective, is so finite. We don’t have faith in ourselves or others. That’s not where our hope rests.
Our confidence comes from our faith resting on God’s limitless, Almighty power that is always working things together for our good.
14. 2 Corinthians 12:9 – Confidence To Boast In Your Weakness
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
This is such a counter-cultural message, but one so important to grasp.
It’s easy to find your flaws and weaknesses, right? And it’s just as easy to take those on as things that define our identity and live in shame, wishing those weaknesses away.
God knows you aren’t perfect. He created you that way on purpose! And those weaknesses you’re trying so hard to cover up and wish away are the very ways God uses His power best in your life.
How would your life change if you could be like Paul and be glad in your weakness because you know Christ’s power is on you all the more?
15. Hebrews 4:16 – Approach God With Confidence
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
I don’t know about you, but my tendency is to try to fix things on my own.
If there’s a problem in my business, my first reaction is to google a way to fix it.
Honestly? That should never be our first reaction to any problem, big or small.
First, approach God, knowing full well and confidently that He knows exactly how to solve your problem and He wants to show you the way.
And then we get to experience the fullness of His endless mercy and grace that always helps us when we need it.

16. Hebrews 10:35–36 – Do Not Throw Away Your Confidence
So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
Sometimes, even when we start a task with confidence, it slowly wanes when we don’t see the immediate results.
Don’t lose your confidence when things don’t work out right away!
Persevere. Keep going. Keep trying. Keep asking, seeking, and knocking.
17. Hebrews 13:6 – Be Fully Convinced To Declare The Lord Is Your Helper
So we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?”
This is no small phrase to utter.
Saying something with confidence means that we can stand, unwavering, on the truth we are about to say.
It’s something we believe in and trust in.
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
Try it. Say it. Do you believe it?
I know my first response is to think of all of those not-so-small things mortals can do to me – yikes!
But then I re-read the first part. Again and again and again, believing it more boldly each and every time.
God is for me, not against me, and with Him as my helper, I will not be afraid.
18. 2 Timothy 1:7 – The Spirit God Gave You Gives You Power, Love, And Self-Discipline
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
Feeling beat down by your insecurities? Like a failure? Not good enough? Like you can’t love your kids well enough or have enough self-discipline to step away from the box of Oreos?
I know when I was 100 pounds overweight, I tried my hardest not to stand out and I felt that lack of confidence profoundly. Even when I wasn’t outwardly hanging my head, inwardly, I was drowning in shame.
But you, sister, have the Spirit of God inside of you. A Spirit that pulls you out of that ocean of shame and gives you power, steadfast love, and self-discipline.
19. 1 John 4:17 – We Have Confidence In Our Future
This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus.
Every single verse on this list reinforces that we can have confidence because God is enough and, in Him, we are enough.
Even when your doubts, fears, and insecurities are screaming at you to believe something different, stand firm on the Truth.
God is who He says He is. He is your helper, working in your weakness, and carrying out a good work in you every single day of your life.
You have every reason in the world to hold your head high and tackle any difficulty in the world with confidence and

Thank you for these scriptures on confidence. I am a new believer in Christ and joined a church. They want me to recite scripture and pray at the next service and I’m really not confident as I don’t really know how to pray let alone in front of a full church. I don’t want to blow it.
Hi Dee, I can so relate to that fear of not being sure how to pray, especially in front of others who have such beautiful prayers! You may have already recited your Scripture and prayed, but, if you haven’t, I know that whatever you say, as long as it’s honest and from your heart to God’s ears, is going to be just perfect. <3
I really haven’t been myself lately, and I feel so low on myself and I don’t know how to change it! But I’m so thankful for God because I know he has plan for me to do better. God is one powerful man he makes us go through things because he knows that we are stronger than we know!

I am having terrible stress issues with my marriage, beein separated for almost 3 years and now living with a man that is deeply in love with me and im having no real feelings of love and onley friendship with this man he is watching my every move and beeing so overbearing and taking advantage of my very soft heart aswell as my husband trying to take advantage of my heart aswell, im scared of this outcome from both men. I believe in the lord Jesus and have faith in him but I am terrified of my own thoughts and my strong actions that its realy making things hard to live by being stressed and people making me feel like I have the plague.
Even my own children, that hurs me and the disrespect they are showing me.
I’m not happy and havnt been for 3 years now. Im scared and need to face my terrible actions and fears and yes lies to cover up thing for fear of hurting these 2 men. I should have never allowed a man to make such a decision for me that I new wasn’t rite..I need to talk to a trustworthy preacher so I can get all this out and actually cry and get some kind of answers to cope and deal with my issues. Im asking for more help because the stress is killing me and above all, my sister passed away 2 years ago and I gavnt realy debt with that yet, and my mother hasn’t either, and trying to comfort her and try to help her deal with it is even harder because I feel I need to be her strength.
I’m also the peace keeper of the family. Please help me.

I love this, thank you for educating us.
Thank you so much for this! I know all those Bible verses but I have never applied them to all my insecurities and lack of confidence. Thank you for putting this information together the way you did. God bless!
Hello Eric, This is Rob, I read your story and yes, I understand fully everything you’ve been through. I suffered everything and more you have been through. I’m a highly sensitive person and I experience the emotions of every person everywhere I am. I’m 63 years old and I got saved when I was almost 30 years old. May 31, 1987 to be exact in Salem Virginia. I was called into the ministry in 1991, and the Lord spoke to me and told me what He has called me to do out of 2 Corinthians 1:3-5; and that is to comfort anyone with the comfort I myself have been comforted of God.
Before I met the Lord as my personal Savior in 1985, I was at death’s door with viral meningitis, but God had mercy on me and allowed me to live because He knew I would get saved in 1987 and love Him Supreme! My brother and my friend in Jesus Christ, be encouraged God has got you and me in the palms of His precious nail scarred hands, and He will see us through this life into eternity. A friend of mine who is with the Lord told before he passed away, “God’s got this pal.” Brother Bill Gilliam
I appreciate your help with the subject of confidence. I suffered abuse of every kind repeatedly from the age of 3 years old throughout most of my teenage years. I trusted Christ at the age of about 30 years old and I struggle with confidence and self esteem every day every waking moment. This Bible study is a great addition to my devotional studies. Thank you sister and please pray for me! Rob
I were encouraged to look up scripture to help improve my self-esteem because it seems to be lower every time someone says me things like I’m overweight or I need to dress a certain way or talk up just criticism side me for no it hurts I feel bad because I want to tell them I’m me not you let me be me, please
Thanks, I really needed that. Everything you said I am going through.
I’m so sorry you are going through all of that, Mike, but so thankful you are leaning into the Lord.
Thankyou! I was looking for ammunition in the Word against
harassing thoughts, and these strengthen me. Remember He doesn’t lie! Heb 6:17,18
This was good. Thanks for sharing the scriptures!
You are so welcome, Sydnie!
Iam 64 years old I find my self esteem lower than ever but God has been working on me for a while the main thing was my man hood but God can take care of anything I will never say I am not good enough again that’ll let the devil in thank you father God I love you
I can relate so much to this stuff….especially the always second guessing myself, past abusive relationship, and self control with food being so difficult for me
Those are big battles but so worth fighting to hold onto God’s identity of you. <3
So I’m a single father, and I needed this, I’ve been struggling so much lately, broken inside, ashamed lonely like who could understand, looking for answers I dont even know how to ask, I’m going to highlight these scriptures in my bible and read them daily. It is very hard to love who I am or to except me, I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was a kid, and sadly enough I’m still struggling with childhood trauma of all kinds of abuse, physical, emotional, psychological, alot of which I’ve been looking into and it seems ive been fighting cptsd along with the ADHD through out my life, I’m 39 now I dont know what God wants me to do with this life, I truly want to be used by God, and every opportunity I have to share the love of Christ I do try, i know i fail alot, and I’ll struggle for days because of it, I honestly wonder how could God possibly use a broken child like man like me, often the words are now just a developed emotions of pain daily, I dont even need to hear the words any more. A broken marriage I realized to late that I fell in love with her family not her,a family I never had with love I’ve never known. And when we separated I was alone all over again, no one who had told me they loved me called to see if i was ok, or just to let me know maybe they were keeping me in their prayers aslo. I had no one and all the love I thought was for me was gone. What do you do with the pain when your a 13 your old boy walking out side with the garbage thinking your being a good boy and your half way up the drive way only to have your mother ask you are you not embarrassed because I choose to take the garbage out with out my shirt on, I struggled with my weight, I was embarrassed after that, what do you do with the pain of having your head put through a drywall by your own father, or a group of kids finally asked you to play with them only for them to just make fun of you. Sure I guess everyone has their struggles on top of having mental issues that your parents dont know how to handle, school just pushing you through because they cant handle you either. Sure this is the tip of the iceberg, but in all this though my life I cant thank God enough because of the failings of my parents being an outsider and literally set aside in the school system, Jesus Christ saved me In Grade school I was not raised in a Christian home, we went to Lutheran church a few times , and I remember the love Jesus Christ was showing the children in the picture books and how I wanted that love how I longed for it. I was saved at a youth group In like grade 4 or 5 I cant remember exactly, and unfortunately I was a prodigal son a few times or maybe a couple, but I thank God for all of it because with out it wouldent know how incredible Gods love is, how faithful He is, how truly God is my Father and He is truly a father to the fatherless. I still struggle daily with negative thoughts and emotions, because I’m still learning, but I know the good work He has begone in me will be perfected, and I know my God will not let me go, nor will He ever forsake me. And ya maybe I dont always see how God could possibly use some like me, but I will rise up and believe what He my Father says about me as His son. I dont know if this was guys and girls I really only saw women’s names , but I just wanted to say thank you, and I appreciate your time you took to write this down for us, and I dont know I’f any will ever see this, but maybe if you dont mind saying a little prayer for me. But I dont want to be alone , I do long to be loved by an incredible women of God who could love me. I know I’m not alone and that Jesus Chist is always with me and Yes He is enough, but at the same time I still have these feelings and I’ll be honest i dont want to feel bad about having them any more, knowing Yes Jesus Christ is enough but want to be loved by an incredible women of God. Yes seek first the kingdom of God absolutely. I’m really excited and really looking forward to seeking the Kingdom of God with her as well. Well to whomever reads this sorry it’s just been a long time that I’ve shared in Hope’s that maybe I could share them with someone one else. Godbless you all and thank you Jesus Christ for loving me.
@Eric, hey I don’t know if you’ll ever see this or respond but thank you for sharing all you did it helps to know that I’m not alone with my feelings that someone else knows the feeling of loneliness. I don’t have a good relationship with god but I wanna start I just don’t know where to start but reading what you shared helped a lot I jus wanna know how do you overcome the bad thoughts? That’s something I have a hard time with… I don’t know where I’m going with this I just had a hard day yesterday I failed an important test and I just shut down I was so disappointed in myself my thoughts were eating me alive and I didn’t know what to do so I came home locked myself in my room and went to sleep now jus waking up I was looking for encouraging verses/quotes that will help get me through it and it led me here. I’ve been dealing with anxiety and depression for almost 2 years now and I’ve tried everything to medication, therapy, walks, isolation, and the feelings go away for a min then everything just comes rushing in all at once and it gets overwhelming I’m at a lost I don’t know what to do I can’t talk to my family about any of this because they are some of the reason of how I am what I am. I just want to ask you if you ever see this or anyone to pray for me please I need it.
@Eric, godbless you
This is so needed! I thank the Lord Jesus Christ that you wrote this. This has touched me in so many ways. I’m going through so many trials and tribulations right now and it’s very difficult having that confidence needed. I’m going to take it day by day and continue to put my faith and trust into the one who knows all. God is still good even beyond our circumstances. May God continue to bless you and provide you a word so that others may continue to be blessed! Amen
Thank you so much for allowing the Holy Spirit to use you! This was so encouraging to read! Your vulnerability that was displayed through personal experiences and thoughts is what moved the verses from the fringes of my mind to my heart/soul. Reading it was an experience. I’ve been struggling with social anxiety all my life and I’m trying to flip my perspective, I’m only 23 but I don’t want it to have power over me anymore. Please keep me in prayer! Sending love and light to you through Christ, from The Bahamas.
Angelica 💕.
Becky, thank you so much for your work in sharing your experiences and putting together this very encouraging list of scriptures with how they can encourage your readers. My struggle is with employment and after a number of bad experiences I am shaken and confused with how God fits into all of this and what I should do and believe. There are many support systems out there but they seem to have limitations and I finally have concluded not to rely on any of them but to get locked in with God and His Word and really, really, really believe it. There is a lot of negative feedback and self-talk that is very discouraging and defeating that is so destructive. I am a perfectionist which also leads to many habits that are counterproductive in my thoughts and motivation.
I will be rereading these scriptures and refer back to your comments to actually be motivated by God so that I can think and act as I should be.
You gave so much to our readers and I want to share with you what I read today from Psalm 37. Many of the readers are familiar with delighting ourselves in the Lord and He will give us the desires of our hearts (v. 4). I read the verses around that it and found in verses 3 and 5 Trust in the Lord and do good… Commit your way to the Lord, trust Him and He will do it (give the desires of your heart – a more accurate version of health and wealth gospel). As an extension of verse 3, in verse 21 it says the righteous give generously (something I feel guilty about not doing while not working but God will get me there) while the wicked borrow and do not repay. We should just keep obeying the Lord as we are able and trust in Him, His Strength and His power and we will walk, run, fly (soar) above our problems for His glory! Thank you for your posts, Becky. I will try to give an update to encourage others after I have climbed my mountain.
Thank you very much. With God, I am going to write these verses on my heart. You have done me a tremendous service.
You are so welcome, Melanie. I am so glad this post helped!
Hi. Just want to thank you for making this article. I am so done dealing with my own anxieties, insecurities and weaknesses. I have a lots on my head right now. Bumping to your article is not an accident at all. All those bible verses hits me so hard. All I need now is to continue living the life our Father God wants me to be not by the people who surrounded me. Again thank you so much.
Hi Angelie! I just love how God finds creative ways to draw us near to Him. I’m humbled that He could use this blog post in your life.
Thank you so much for writing this article – straight from your heartfelt experiences! The verses were so encouraging, reminding me of trusting in His strength and His empowerment rather than me trying and failing to strengthen myself and get rid of all of my weaknesses! I’m on a journey now to understand and trust His power to work within me and through me…for me it’s like closing my eyes on a roller coaster and trusting that He will keep me safe and on track (I hate roller coasters). I’m going to cast my care on Him and ask Him to take my weaknesses and show His strength. Wow, that’s going to be very interesting. ;))
You are so welcome, Fiona! Gosh, you are so right that it feels like a roller coaster sometimes. I can’t wait to see how God shows up in your life as you learn to trust Him and more and more!
These verses have helped a bit with my own self-esteem (which is pretty low), but I’m still stuck with these thoughts in my head. Thoughts like, I hate myself, my confidence is the size of a sunflower seed, no one loves me; and it goes on and on and on and on and on.These verses don’t tell me HOW to be confident. It just simply says, “Be confident in the Lord.” What am I supposed to do with that? I know that God loves me, but I don’t feel it. And every time I ask to feel it, it never happens. I’ve first looked for it in people; nothing. Then I look to my parents and siblings; nothing. Then I look inside myself for it; nothing. Then I look to God/Jesus for that “perfect love” that people and the bible always talk about; nothing (yet). I’m getting sick of asking and not getting any proof of God’s love. I’m 19 years old and I don’t even know what my purpose is. I’ve asked for my purpose on earth, as well. Maybe I’m too stupid and dumb to not recognize when God is talking to me. How can I rely on something that hasn’t shown up yet, despite the fact I’ve been looking for God’s love for THIRTEEN YEARS? It’s like I’ve been walking to the starting line of a race that takes years to walk up to.
@Kyle, Gods Love is everything. The people around you, the peace you have, all that you are is a testimony to Gods Love! For the fact that you are searching for his Love shows something and i know you will most definatly find it…Those that seek God diligently, will not seek him in vain x
Thank you for this! I am working on content that focuses on increasing self-esteem, but I don’t want to be “human-based” because there are plenty of times we cannot trust ourselves.
I’ll link to this one. And can I borrow how you define self-esteem? I couldn’t have said it better. 🙂
Using your article and citing but I am having trouble finding last name.
My last name is Brown. 🙂
Thank you for your giant help on my sermon. Many sites offering “verses about…” just give a list as though from a concordance, often repeating references (thus, wasting my valuable time). Also, just because of one of the words of my search, a verse is suggested that has no bearing on the topic (e.g., “self” or “esteem” could bring references to selfishness or honoring a king).
Your format is what struck me most. Some sites include the text, others just the reference. Your personal thoughts are what moved this list from superlative to the best I’ve ever seen on any topic, and I do such a search each week to ensure I don’t just trust my memory to be sufficient.
Phil, thank you so much for your kind words! I appreciate them so much. I’m sure your sermon will be wonderful!
Its 530 am and I’ve struggled with low self esteem all my life. So I googled bible verses for low self esteem and yours were the first to come up. These verses r so powerful and I could sense God directly speaking to me through them. Thank u so much!
Hi Lynne! I am so glad you were searching for God’s Word in your struggles! I love that you felt God speaking to you through them. His Word is so powerful. <3
I couldn’t agree more with Lyanne . Thank you for sharing the Bible verse felt like God already spoken to me in my struggle. God bless you richly for what you are doing.
Excellent article on self-confidence through God’s eyes! Thank you for pointing out these verses and for your thoughts on them. Blessings!
Thank you for the blessings and kind words, Lor!
You’re not only helping woman but men also. I’ve been letting loneliness & low self esteem rule my life way too often. The scriptures & commentary you shared helped put closing time to a really rambunctious pity party. Obviously you pray for a lot of people. Just know I’ll return the favor. May God bless you till your cup overflows!
Hi David! I’m so glad it’s encouraging to men, too! Thank you so much for your prayers and blessings. That means so much to me!
I feel like the Holy Spirit led me to this well written post. It reminded me of this scripture too…
Zechariah 4:6 KJV
[6] Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.
Yes! Another wonderful verse. Thanks for sharing!
Becky! thank you for posting this! It was very encouraging to me today and I can’t wait to share it with my kids. You should consider doing a devotional out of your information! You have some amazing stuff to share. Thanks so much. God Bless!
Thanks so much, Libby! I don’t have a devotional written specifically on this topic, but I do have a 30-day weight loss devotional available! https://soveryblessed.com/weight-loss-devotional/
Thank you very much for this post Becky. God bless you. I am mostly overwhelmed with so many negative thoughts about my appearance. I’m glad i decided to seek God’s truth about my situation and i came across your post. I’m going to read these verses and more everyday.
Hi Becky, I’m so sorry to hear you’re so overwhelmed with negative thoughts about how you look. I completely understand, though! I’ve definitely been there myself. I remember hearing someone recommend you just stand in the mirror and look at yourself until you start seeing the positive things about your appearance. I tried it once many years ago and was so frustrated because all I could see were the negatives. Looking to my own thoughts was not helpful at all but relying on the Truth of God’s Word helped so much! I believe Him much more than I believe myself. 😉
Today I found my Bible from high school and instantly felt positive vibes from it. I have always struggled with confidence and now realize I need to grow my faith in him to achieve anything and everything I want with the confidence and love he provides. Thank you for this. You’ve helped immensely.
Thanks so much for these. I found them so helpful. I’ll be sharing them with my friends right away. God bless you🙏
Thanks heaps Becky for this anointed write up. God led me here when I was contemplating giving up on certain areas of my struggles, one of them being self esteem and overweight. May God’s face continue to shine upon you so you can reach to more people. Stay blessed
Needed this. Thank you so much for sharing!
Good morning Becky,
I read your post this morning and it was exactly what I needed! May the Lord continue to bless and strengthen you and your ministry. My prayer and confidence is that He will refill your pitcher As you pour out to others.
Please be encouraged and continue to stand strong in the Lord!
Hi Becky,
Today, I have an interview I am qualified for but lacked that confidence. God has been guiding me in preparing for this opportunity and this morning he led me to this page. Thank you for sharing God’s word!
Hi Carly! How did your interview go? I’m so glad you were filled with the confidence God gives us through His Word before you went in!
Awwwwh! God bless you Sis Becky
You made my day with these amazing scriptures and your story. Indeed, our pains are our track record. Love you sis♥️♥️💃
The scripture says that ” All things will work together for our good”
Thank you for inspiring me with your story…
I know what I am going through now will end in praise. God bless you and make you a global voice
Hi Becky. This was really helpful and it came into my life at the perfect time. I was feeling sooo distressed about an opportunity I had. I didn’t feel good enough and it had really been bothering me. I almost had a mental breakdown.
After studying these verses I just felt completely at peace. If God is with me there is nothing to big or too hard. Thank you so much.
I am so glad it was timely and helpful! I’m so sorry you almost had a mental breakdown, but so glad you were able to cling to God’s Word!
I was feeling really down and depressed about not be able to lose weight and accomplish all the goals I set before my 50th birthday next month. So I decided to look up bible verses on confidence to help motivate me from sinking into depression .I was preparing to read only bible verses but instead I got a chance to read a story that resonates so deeply with mines and as I continued to read your story I knew it was a message from God!! Thank you Becky for sharing your story and helping me change my perspective about my self esteem
You are so welcome! Thank YOU so much for your kind words, Nicola! I appreciate them so much and I am so glad my story resonated with you! I love how God uses our experiences (good and bad!) to help us feel less alone in our struggles. Happy early birthday! What a great birthday to celebrate!
I am highly encourage. Thanks and God bless your ministry. Hope to hear more from you.

You are so welcome, Elaine!
Thank you very much for those powerful word, I just got what I needed I had a problem of low self-esteem but with this am getting up.
You are so welcome! God’s Word definitely has a way of lifting us up right when we need it.
Becky thank you for the courage to share your story with us. I have just recently learnt that through our struggles and obstacles to overcome God is building our character. It is always encouraging for me to read a story where someone has overcome and endured it gives me hope and faith that we all can do the same because God is holding our hand. Thank you for these verses Becky I’m going to put them in my verse box to learn that I can be steadfast and endure. 💕
You are so welcome, Grace! I love that you have a verse box. <3
Thank you so much for this. It definitely feels God inspired and has been such a blessing for me. May God continue to bless you
Thank you, for sharing a little of your story and these verses. God knows how much I needed these words of reassurance.
I need help I have lung issues 😢
Hi Kathleen, I’m so sorry to hear about your lung issues! I’m not sure what I can do to help you there, but I just said a prayer for you!
Thank you so very much. God led me to your page today. I am just getting out of an emotionally abusive marriage. Every post I read, spoke straight to my heart! Thank you so much for obeying the Lord and allowing him to use you to help others. OXOX
Oh, Ann, I am so sorry for the tough times you’ve had to go through (and, I’m sure, the harsh words you’ve had to hear). I am praying for you right now, that God would heal your heart and take every single lie that has been spoken to you and replace it with truth about your worth and value. Blessings to you in this new season. <3 And thank you for your kind words!
This was SO GOOD! Normally with other websites I just skip the comments with each verse I write the verses down. This time I made myself slow down because what you said with each verse was SO inspiring and uplifting, exactly when I needed it! Thank you so much for this!!!
Oh my goodness, you just made my day! I pray before I write each post that God would give me the words that someone out there needs to hear, so I am humbled and honored that it happened with you! Thank you so much for telling me. Praising God for you, Charissa! <3
Those verse really appreciate me by reading every single verse….
